U-17: a barrage of goals and defeat in the capital
Wisła Kraków U-17s lost away to Escola Varsovia in their eighth round of the Central Junior League. Wisła led 3-1 at halftime, but the tide completely turned in the second half, with the hosts ultimately triumphing 4-3. The decisive goal came in the final seconds of the match.
Wisła Kraków's junior players may be feeling a huge disappointment after their match in Warsaw. Coach Patryk Jałocha's side led 3-1 at halftime thanks to two goals from Filip Michałowski, including one from a bicycle kick, and a goal from Bruno Skoczek, and there was no indication they would leave the capital empty-handed. Especially after such a dramatic match.
Just four minutes after the restart, Escola scored a goal and launched an attack. However, Wisła successfully held off their opponents for a long time. The hosts finally achieved their goal in the 83rd minute when Mikołaj Podwysocki unluckily headed the ball into his own net.
In the closing stages, Wisła continued to attack and created two chances from set pieces. However, Escola had the final say. In the sixth minute of stoppage time, after a mistimed free kick and a loss of possession, the hosts launched a counterattack, which resulted in their fourth goal. Wisła were unable to respond.
"We reacted very well to conceding the first goal. We quickly equalized and took the initiative. We started making bold decisions and winning duels. This allowed us to create two more good chances to score more goals. What hurts me more than the defeat itself is the fact that in the second half, while we were still in a good position, we wanted to play for the result and maintain what we had achieved at halftime. We completely handed the initiative to our opponents, and we can all see the results," concluded coach Patryk Jałocha.
After eight rounds of games, Wisła Kraków sits in 13th place with seven points. In their next round of games, Patryk Jałocha's team will host Olimpia Elbląg in Myślenice. The match kicks off on Saturday at 11:00 AM.
