U-17: Point added in clash with leader
Coach Patryk Jałocha's players faced the league leaders, Polonia Warszawa, in Myślenice in the 15th round of the Central Junior League. Wisła displayed great valor in the match, ultimately drawing 2-2 with the team from the capital city. Jakub Czubernat and Dawid Szczepaniak scored for the White Star.
The hosts surprised the visitors early on with their motivation, fighting spirit, and pressure. The Kraków team tried to react quickly, efficiently winning possession and driving it towards the visitors' goal. Wisła's young players repeatedly caused problems for the Polonia goalkeeper, and in the eighth minute they opened the scoring when Jakub Czubernat scored from close range after a saved shot by Milan Olej. In the following minutes, Wisła maintained their momentum and consistently penetrated the visitors' penalty area, creating further opportunities. Maksymilian Podwysocki and Milan Olej made excellent attempts in this part of the match, but neither player was able to extend their lead. As time went on, the Warsaw team began to play more aggressively, disrupting the home side's chances. Polonia's players tried to equalize the score by launching dangerous counterattacks and striking from set pieces, but ultimately they failed to beat the Wisła goalkeeper, as a result of which the teams went into the break with the hosts in the lead.
Heart left on the pitch
After the break, Wisła returned to full strength to fight for all three points, but the visitors enjoyed more possession in the second half. Despite dominating possession and persistent attempts to score, Polonia's efforts proved ineffective for a long time. The Kraków side also refused to give up, but launching attacks proved more difficult, undoubtedly due to fatigue, as the pace of the match remained high throughout. The visitors finally achieved their goal in the 86th minute, when, following a foul on a player in the penalty area, the referee awarded a penalty, which the visitors capitalized on, tying the score. Fueled by their desire to change the course of the match, they defeated Wojciech Rak again just a few dozen seconds later, tipping the scales in their favor. In stoppage time, luck smiled on the home side – the referee found a foul, and this time Dawid Szczepaniak fired home from 11 meters. The goalkeeper saved the penalty, but the White Star captain scored from the rebound.
