U-19: Pogrom in Warsaw! Winning streak maintained
Wisła Kraków U-19s claimed their fourth consecutive victory on Saturday. The senior team thrashed Polonia Warsaw 5-1 away. The victory could have been even bigger. Jan Molenda, Eryk Daczewski, Radosław Wójcicki (from the penalty spot), Dawid Gap, and Maciej Szmydt scored for Wisła.
The oldest team in the Wisła Academy, competing in the Central Junior League, achieved another convincing victory. From the outset, Wisła set the tone, opening the scoring in the fifth minute with a stunning shot from around the 18-meter mark by Jan Molenda.
In the 27th minute, the hosts capitalized on a moment of defensive lapses and distraction. Eryk Daczewski illegally stopped an opponent in his own penalty area, and the Black Shirts equalized. However, Wisła managed to regain the lead before the break.
First, in the 41st minute, Daczewski made the most clever save at the far post after a corner kick, outpacing an opponent and slotting the ball into the net. The White Star defender thus redeemed himself for the penalty he had previously awarded. Just before the final whistle in the first half, Wisła won a penalty after a foul on Tomasz Dusik. Radosław Wójcicki proved to be the effective taker.
Domination after the change of ends. Wisła defeated their opponents
After the break, Wisła dominated the game and outscored their opponents. First, in the 52nd minute, Dawid Gap burst into the penalty area after a pass from Wójcicki and fired a powerful shot under the crossbar to give Wisła their fourth goal.
In the 70th minute, Maciej Szmydt truly made his mark. Just a minute after arriving on the pitch, he won a physical duel with his opponent and, with a powerful shot, forced the Black Shirts goalkeeper to surrender for the fifth time.
And that wasn't the last word from the White Star. In the 82nd minute, Wisła were awarded their second penalty of the match, but Wiktor Benedyktowicz failed to convert it into a goal.
"Great words of appreciation and congratulations to the players. Their determination and enormous commitment from the start of the match deserve recognition. I hope this attitude, and above all, the implementation of our tactical assumptions, continues for as long as possible," concluded U-19 coach Karol Nędza.
After 15 rounds of the Central Junior League, Wisła Kraków has 31 points (10 wins, one draw, and four losses) and sits in second place, one point behind Legia Warsaw. The U-19 team has two more league matches before the winter break. Next Saturday, coach Karol Nędza's side will play away at Jagiellonia Białystok (Saturday, November 23, 3:00 PM), with whom they have a score to settle after their opening defeat. They will conclude the autumn season with a derby against Cracovia in Myślenice (Saturday, November 30, 11:00 AM).
