In memory of Wisła Legends
This Saturday, the first memorial dedicated to Adam Musiał and Andrzej Iwan, co-organized by the Wisła Kraków Football Academy, will take place at the facility at 21 Dekerta Street. Twelve U-10 teams will compete, and alongside the White Star players, Wisła London will also be in action. The tournament is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM.
The Wisła Kraków Football Academy wants to honor the memory of two exceptional figures who made distinguished contributions to the White Star in a unique way. Adam Musiał and Andrzej Iwan left their mark on the history of the Reymont club, winning the Polish Championship with Wisła in 1978, among other titles. They also celebrated great success with the Polish national team, winning bronze medals at the World Cups in 1974 (Musiał) and 1982 (Iwan). After retiring, they devoted themselves to coaching. Musiał served as White Star's coach from 1989 to 1992, and in 1991, he was named Coach of the Year by the weekly "Piłka Nożna" (Novelty) magazine. Musiał played 264 matches for Wisła, while Iwan's tally stopped at 227.
This Saturday, at the facility at Dekerta Street 21, the Wisła Academy will be organizing its first memorial event dedicated to their memory. Twelve U-10 teams will compete, divided into two groups of six.
The Wisła Kraków U-10 team has been drawn into Group A, where they will face their peers from Wanda Nowa Huta, Akademia 21 Kraków, Wieczysta Kraków, ROW Rybnik and Banik Ostrava (Czech Republic).
Group B will consist of Górnik Zabrze, Górnik Wieliczka, Hutnik Kraków, Zagłębie Sosnowiec, Cracovia, and the team of Wisła London, the first certified foreign school of the White Star.
The top four teams from each group will then compete in the playoffs and then for the overall tournament title. The teams finishing 5th and 6th will advance to the playoff B stage.
Matches will last 16 minutes (without a break), and teams of seven will compete on the pitch. The first tournament matches are scheduled for 9:00 a.m.
See you!
