Coaching duo: #STWWIS
After the match, #STWWIS took three points to Krakow. Coaches Mariusz Jop and Ireneusz Pietrzykowski summed up the match, which was won 5-1 by the White Star.
Mariusz Jop - Wisla Kraków
"I'd like to congratulate my team on returning to what we lacked in the last match, and also on their good reaction after the goalless draw at home," began coach Mariusz Jop. "Scoring so many goals against a team that's been in good form lately, hasn't lost in several matches, and in the last five matches – if I remember correctly – has conceded only three goals. I personally liked the team because it's rare for so many players to try to release pressure by dribbling. In many cases, they did it very effectively and very well. This certainly develops the players individually, so I also congratulate the coach for choosing this method, which isn't easy, but is risky and develops the players. I'm glad we returned to our style of play, that we were effective today and that we got the three points," he said.
When asked what was key to winning the game, the coach replied: "First and foremost, we corrected what we struggled with against GKS Tychy: we lacked patience in that match and played too many long passes. It was clear here that we waited for our moments, maintained our attacking structure, and then opportunities arose and spaces opened up for us to score goals. So, above all, I'm happy that we managed to correct the shortcomings that were present in the last match." Kacper Duda, returning from injury, appeared on the pitch in Stalowa Wola, as did Maciej Kuziemka, making his debut: "I think it wasn't obvious in Kacper's game today that he'd had such a long break. It was a very good change, but let's remember that he's going to the national team and won't be in the next match. And "Kuzi"? You could say his debut was quiet and calm, but he's definitely had his first emotions behind him. This is a player I've known for a long time; I coached him as a reserve team coach, and recently he's also been looking very good in the third-division Wisła II, scoring goals, being active, and as a reward, he's training with us, and today he made his debut in the first league."
Ireneusz Pietrzykowski - Stalowa Wola
"We definitely wanted it to be a celebration in Stalowa Wola, because a big name is undoubtedly coming, and we didn't want to be just a backdrop. We wanted to play a match that would give us a chance to do more than just put on a good show," began the home team's coach. "The idea was to try to have as much ball possession as possible. We didn't want Wisła to force us into a low defense. There were moments when they forced us back, but overall, when it comes to our play, there were some really good moments, especially in the first half. It seemed like it was a fairly even match at that point. However, there's no way you could expect a good result against an opponent like that when we conceded at least three goals. Wisła certainly has a lot of quality and can create chances and capitalize on them. However, when we expected more, we conceded goals too easily. However, I'll say it again – the first half, especially, was such that we could have gotten more out of it. Unfortunately, conceding a goal so early to make it 1-4 essentially sealed the match. After that, it was all about trying, because we didn't give up, but it was definitely more difficult, and unfortunately, the match ended in a resounding victory for the visitors," he added.
