Summary of the Academy weekend: November 18-19
Another league weekend has passed, with plenty of matches featuring young players from the Football Academy. Here's a quick summary of the results for the CLJ U-15, CLJ U-17, CLJ U-19, and Wisła II Kraków teams.
U-15: Impressive win against Korona at the end of the autumn round
The Wisła Kraków U-15 team couldn't have dreamed of a better end to the fall round of the Central Junior League. The team, coached by Krystian Żakowicz, thrashed KKP Korona Kielce 8-0 away on Saturday, with Michał Pałka (x3), Mateusz Pałka (x2), Oliwier Pławiński (x2), and Dominik Mierzwa all scoring.
At the conclusion of the autumn round of the U-15 Central Junior League, Wisła Kraków faced KKP Korona Kielce away. The White Star was determined to redeem itself from its recent home derby defeat to Cracovia, and it must be admitted that Krystian Żakowicz's men more than delivered.
The Kraków team had already scored six goals by halftime, and they continued to add two more after the break. Ultimately, they saw off KKP Korona with eight goals, with Michał Pałka scoring a hat-trick. Mateusz Pałka and Oliwier Pławiński also found the net twice for Kielce, and Dominik Mierzwa also scored.
Wisła finished the fall round of the U-15 Central Junior League in fifth place with 23 points (seven wins, two draws, and five losses). Now, the Wisła team faces a winter break.
U -17: Big victory against GKS Bełchatów
The White Star U-17 team hosted GKS Bełchatów at the ORLEN OIL Training Center in Myślenice on Saturday afternoon. Wisła defeated their opponents 7-0, with Staniów and Czubernat sharing the spoils, scoring twice each, and Wójcik and Lis. One of the goals was an own goal.
The match against GKS Bełchatów was dominated from the outset by coach Patryk Jałocha's side. Rokosz repeatedly harassed the opposing defense on the left flank, repeatedly sending the ball into the penalty area after dynamic moves. The scoring opened after less than fifteen minutes, when Rokosz delivered a powerful pass along the back line to the onrushing Wójcik, who had no choice but to slot the ball into the net. Less than three minutes later, Staniów extended Wisła's lead, managing to navigate the chaos in the penalty area. Kawała had his chances in the first half, twice trying to catch the GKS goalkeeper off guard, but each time his shot went wide. Rokosz also had a solo effort, breaking the ball inside and unleashing a powerful shot, but the visiting goalkeeper prevailed. The Kraków team went into the break with a two-goal lead.
Five consecutive blows
The second half of the match for Wisła Kraków started just as promisingly as the first. After about ten minutes, Staniów received the ball on the left flank and shot past the Bełchatów goalkeeper for the second time with a shot to the far post. Moments later, Symula broke into the opponent's penalty area and was illegally stopped, with the referee pointing to the penalty spot. Lis stepped up and extended the White Star's lead with a confident shot. Just two minutes later, after a cross into the penalty area, the opponents' defender made an unfortunate save and slotted the ball into his own net. Later in the match, Szmydt came close to scoring, but his shot in the visiting penalty area proved off target. Moments before the final whistle, the substitutes were treated to a goal. Janiszewski raced down the right flank with the ball, played a lofted pass to Czubernat, who completed the task by slotting the ball into the net with a powerful shot. It soon turned out that the scorer of that goal had not yet said his last word, because a moment later, in the chaos in the penalty area, he beat the opposing goalkeeper again, completing the double and settling the match result.
Coach Patryk Jałocha's side secured their eighth victory of the season by defeating GKS Bełchatów. The young Wisła team remains sixth in the league table with 27 points.
U-19: Derby defeat in Rączna
The U-19 team faced Cracovia at noon in the 15th round of the Central Junior League. After the referee blew the final whistle, Wisła were forced to concede their opponents' superiority and swallow the bitterness of defeat, losing 5-0.
Coach Karol Nędza's side entered the match against Cracovia full of hopes of picking up three points, which would increase their chances of escaping the relegation zone. Recall that a week ago, the Kraków team managed to earn a single point, drawing 1-1 with a highly demanding opponent, Lech Poznań, who remain top of the CLJ standings. Today, the White Star players were eager for even more, hoping to outdo their local rivals and unleash the goalmouth. Unfortunately, the hosts proved more effective in this clash, comfortably defeating the young players from Reymont 5-0.
The locals' scoring display began in first-half stoppage time, when the hosts capitalized on a penalty kick awarded after a foul by Marcin Górkiewicz. The Wisła defender was shown a second yellow card, but after a poor tackle, he was taken straight from the pitch to the hospital. After the break, the Kałuża team continued to execute their goals, producing further good moves that left the White Star goalkeeper having to pick the ball out of the net four more times.
Wisła Kraków will have a chance to make amends for today's defeat this Wednesday. The Kraków team will play their outstanding away match against Górnik Zabrze. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
Wisła II: A victorious end to the autumn round. A win against Barciczanka
The White Star reserve team closed the autumn season with a league match against Barciczanka Barcice at Prądniczanka Kraków's stadium. Wisła sealed their successful half-season with another victory, defeating their opponents 3-2 thanks to a goal from Mateusz Stanek, a penalty from Wiktor Szywacz, and a goal from Karol Tokarczyk.
The first half of the match between the White Star reserves and Barciczanka Barcice was a closely contested affair. Both teams struggled to find a way to break down the opposing defense, but they found it difficult, resulting in play primarily in midfield. Wisła patiently traded possession, striving to build consistent attacks, but their opponents were equally active and managed to create several good chances, forcing Dorian Frątczak to intervene. The White Star also had a chance to score, and thanks to a well-executed move, Mateusz Stanek found the back of the net after a pass from Maciej Kuziemka, opening the scoring. The visitors immediately began to fight back, which soon resulted in an equalizer, and three minutes before the break, Barcice found the back of the net for the second time, taking the lead.
Good performance from the hosts
After the break, Wisła took full control of the game, spending most of the time in their opponents' half, firing shots at goal. The Kraków team achieved their goal quite quickly – in the 56th minute, the referee awarded a penalty following a foul on Wiktor Szywacz, and moments later, the injured player converted the penalty kick into the equalizer. The hosts continued to push for chances with shots on target, but their finishing was still lacking. It wasn't until Karol Tokarczyk, who fired a close-range shot into the net, that the White Star team finally secured the three points.
