Kamil Broda: We are only looking at the next meeting
Wisła Kraków put in a great performance on Friday evening at Reymonta 22. In their next league match, the White Star comfortably defeated Stal Stalowa Wola 5-0. After the game, we spoke with the Wawel team's goalkeeper, Kamil Broda. What did he say?
Kamil Broda, assessing Friday's clash with Stal Stalowa Wola, admitted that it wasn't the most difficult match he's played for Wisła Kraków. "It wasn't a very demanding match for us," he began, adding, "But that's because we played good football, we played consistently, we took our chances. The opponent helped us a bit by playing the entire second half with ten men. We're happy with the victory and we're looking forward to the next match."
The Wisła Kraków goalkeeper wasn't forced to intervene too often in the match against Stal, but he admitted that it's crucial to be alert to every opponent's next action. "Maybe there weren't many save opportunities today, but in those that do arise, you have to be effective and constantly focused on your task. You never know what might happen in the opponent's next action."
The match against Stal Rzeszów will be missing several key players who received yellow cards in Friday's match, and their participation will be impossible due to the excessive number of yellow cards. "I believe that no matter what lineup we bring to this next match, we will go in with the conviction to win it and dominate the opponent. Players who haven't played much lately will get a chance, so this is also a chance for them to get some minutes and show their skills before the playoffs," Broda continued.
It's certain that Wisła Kraków will play in the Ekstraklasa playoffs this season. Are there any whispers in the locker room about who the Wawel team would like to face? "We're not talking about who we'd prefer to play in the playoffs. Every opponent is beatable, but we're only looking at the next match, which is against Stal Rzeszów," the goalkeeper assured.
White Star fans have become accustomed to seeing the stadium in their numbers. This match was also made special by the fact that young White Star fans could actively participate in the club's life. "I think it was a great initiative on the fans' part, allowing young fans to 'take over' the club and see how it works behind the scenes. It was a truly great initiative, because today I saw that there were kitmen, someone was managing social media – I hope there are more initiatives like this."
A touching moment during Friday evening at Reymonta was the appearance of Jacek – a disabled fan whose story proves that nothing is impossible. "As for Jacek, we knew what the situation was. I won't deny that I'd known about this boy for some time and was somewhat involved in supporting him," Broda admitted. "It's an incredible story. Things like this touch your heart. In moments like these, everyone reflects on their lives, on various things. I believe such support initiatives are very necessary. For us, it's not a huge effort, and thanks to this, we'll see the joy on the boy's face," he concluded.
