Biedrzycki: I'm glad we didn't concede a goal
Wisła Kraków shows no signs of slowing down, maintaining their winning streak, winning their fifth consecutive match. Following their victory over Pogoń Siedlce, we spoke with Wisła Kraków defender Wiktor Biedrzycki.
On Saturday, Wisła won for the fifth time in a row, extending their winning streak. "We've won five in a row and we hope to keep it up. It's hard to achieve such a good streak in this league, and Wisła hasn't had one in a while. Every team we play is fighting for something – Pogoń, Odra, and Kotwica are essentially playing for their lives, to ensure their place in the first division next season," began Wiktor Biedrzycki. "At the beginning of the season, we told ourselves that each next match is the most important and we won't get ahead of ourselves. We continue to maintain this approach; we prepare for each opponent," he added.
During the match, Pogoń's players showed a strong physical presence. "I've been playing in this league for so many years that I've become accustomed to this style of play, which is why I'm comfortable in it. We knew this match would be like this – that there would be a lot of duels. I'm glad we didn't concede a goal and won the match," he concluded.
During the match, a dangerous situation occurred in which the Wisła defender collided head-on with a White and Blues player. What was it like from the player's perspective? "We collided heads, which resulted in stitches. It's not the first time, and it probably won't be the last. I've had many similar situations in my life and I'm used to them. I hope it heals quickly," he replied.
The visitors created dangerous situations, threatening Wiślak's goal and thus could have changed the course of the match. "If it weren't for Patryk's effective save in goal, we could have conceded a goal early on. This save certainly gave him a boost," Wiślak emphasized. "The information we received indicates that after a VAR review, the goal would have been disallowed – there was a foul on Alan Uryga, so such a situation wouldn't have occurred, but of course we can't allow them to happen," he emphasized.
The team from Wawel Castle faces another challenge – a match against Termalica Bruk-Bet Nieciecza, currently in second place in the table. "Before this match, Bruk-Bet has one more match. We hope to close the gap," he began. "As I said earlier, we're focusing on each opponent, and this time it's an opponent from the top of the table," Biedrzycki emphasized. "We're hoping it will be a more football-oriented match – the match of the round. Let's hope it won't be a fight, but a spectacular match for the fans, and we'll bring another three points to Krakow," he concluded.
