Biedrzycki after #WISPGM: I'm glad there's humility in the team
Another round of first-division matches is behind us. This time, Wisła Kraków faced a very good team at home – Pogoń Grodzisk Mazowiecki. Once again, the Kraków team emerged victorious, currently holding a perfect record in the competition. After the match, we spoke with Wiktor Biedrzycki. What did he say?
"It was definitely a tough match. We scored first, but conceded a goal from a set piece quite quickly. However, I'm pleased with our performance, as we managed to regain the lead and then improve the score. We lacked control of the match to go greedily for a fourth goal and calm the game down. Then we conceded, and there was unnecessary nervousness," the Wisła player began his analysis of the match.
The defender also commented on our opponent's performance today, praising them. "I think it's no coincidence they have seven points after four rounds," he said, adding: "We remind ourselves that we must approach every opponent with the right determination and not underestimate anyone, because if that happens, we won't win standing. I'm glad there's humility in the team and that we work hard during the week. The first twenty minutes should have been better for us, especially in the home match. However, we're happy with the three points, and we have to be happy that we have a full set of points after four rounds."
Now Wisła Kraków faces a longer break from league play. How did Wiktor Biedrzycki react to this? "I think every player likes the break between matches to be as short as possible, but I think it will be good for us that we're playing in over a week. We'll catch our breath and prepare for the match against Znicz Pruszków," he announced.
Despite their defeat, today's opponent played a good game, repeatedly forcing the Wisła Kraków defense into action, as Biedrzycki noted. "We have to be responsible. Everyone is assigned one-on-one coverage, and we have to be accountable and helpful to each other. This is something that needs improvement. I think this shouldn't happen in future matches," he said.
Sunday's match ended favorably for Wisła Kraków, but it was played in high temperatures, which affected the physical condition of both teams. "There's no team that hasn't felt these weather conditions. But it's all about overcoming these difficult moments, because the conditions were the same for both teams, and we had the ball for longer," the defender noted, adding: "Pogoń had more running. In conditions like today, the team's intelligence must come out. We have to hold the ball, play from one side to the other, to force the opponent to run and lose strength," he concluded.
