After a break from playing in front of their home crowd, Wisła Kraków hosted Stal Rzeszów at the Reymonta Stadium. The match, part of the 17th round of the Betclic 1 League, ended in a 1-1 draw. Łukasz Zwoliński scored for the home side. Before the first whistle, the match was billed as a clash of two attacking teams. True to form, both sides displayed a flurry of attacking play from the outset, but it was the visitors who found the net first. Szymon Łyczko headed the ball into the net after a deflected shot, scoring in the 14th minute. Wisła immediately began to fight back, but for a long time they couldn't find a way to surprise the Rzeszów defense. The score finally equalized in the 33rd minute thanks to a solo effort by Łukasz Zwoliński. The striker made excellent contact with a defender on his back and, after cleverly positioning the ball for a shot, beat visiting goalkeeper Krzysztof Bąkowski. There were no further goals before the break, despite both teams attempting to close out the first half with a goal advantage. We saw plenty of corner kicks and aerial battles for lofted crosses. Despite the truly wintry weather, the Wisła-Stal match was thrilling, and after a quarter of an hour, we were ready for the continuation of the football action at the R22. Take away three points After the restart, the match continued to feature a strong offensive presence, with both teams' speedy wingers playing a key role. Despite this, a more cautious defensive approach was evident, resulting in few clear-cut opportunities beyond counterattacks. With an hour left on the clock, Tamas Kiss and Kacper Duda were brought onto the pitch. It was safe to say that the White Star's coaching staff had made the right decision with their substitutions, as from that point on, the players in navy blue practically never left their side. Alan Uryga had a near-perfect chance from a corner kick, but, left unmarked in the Rzeszów penalty area, he made a slight mistake. The final minutes saw a picture of a defending Stal Rzeszów, whose second-half goal seemed to have come as a miracle. Giannis Kiakos, who had been introduced earlier, had a chance to score a three-pointer in stoppage time, but unfortunately, his shot only hit the rim of the visiting team's goal. Moments later, referee Sylwestrzak blew the final whistle, signaling that the visitors would take a valuable point from Kraków.
