U-17: opening defeat in Białystok

On Friday afternoon, Wisła Kraków U-17 kicked off the autumn round of the Central Junior League with an away match against Jagiellonia Białystok. Unfortunately, the match didn't go the way the Kraków team had hoped, and it was the hosts who emerged victorious. Białystok won 3-1, with Jakub Czubernat scoring the only goal for the White Star.

The match started off very evenly, with play primarily taking place in midfield. The breakthrough came in the 25th minute, when, after a simple mistake by Wisła Kraków in the 16th minute, the hosts fired a shot on target to open the scoring. Jagiellonia continued to take the lead for the remainder of the first half, resulting in a second goal.

The goal gave me hope

Coach Patryk Jałocha's men emerged for the second 45 minutes with a clear desire to make up for lost ground and turn the tables. After Jakub Czubernat found the back of the net, it was the White Star who took control of the match. Wisła created several chances, one of which resulted in a goal, but the referee ruled it offside.

In the closing stages, Wisła put everything on the line, leaving more space in the defense. Jagiellonia capitalized on this, extending their victory with a spectacular counterattack.

“The first goal we conceded clearly clipped our wings. We discussed at halftime what we wanted to improve in our game, and I think we started the second half well. We tried to create scoring opportunities, but unfortunately, we couldn't equalize, and in the 90th minute we conceded a goal to make it 3-1. We now need to learn as much as we can from this match and work on what we didn't achieve in training," coach Patryk Jałocha summed up the first CLJ match of the season.

Another away game awaits Wisła Kraków in the second round. This time, the White Star's juniors will play away against Igloopol Dębica.
