Szot: I would like us to play like in the Polish Cup
Following Sunday's league match, in which Wisła Kraków was forced to concede superiority to Motor Lublin, Dawid Szot shared his thoughts on the match and the team's situation. The young defender had been watching the match from the bench since the 37th minute, when he was replaced by Igor Łasicki.
Dawid Szot played only 37 minutes in the match against Motor. Coach Albert Ruda decided to make changes to the lineup due to the tense situation on the pitch. "From my perspective, the change in the first half was understandable. I played with the risk of a second yellow card. If it weren't for Bartek Jaroch's red card early in the match, the referee would have stopped the game and given me a second yellow card. When I was losing the match, I shouldn't have committed the foul. This is a lesson I need to learn for the future, because such play can further weaken the team," he noted.
Asked about the first half of Sunday's match, which didn't go the way the Kraków team had hoped, including a red card for Bartosz Jaroch, he replied: "The first half seemed promising. Despite playing with a man down, we created chances. We scored to make it 1-1, I think Alfaro had chances, and there was some confusion in the Motor penalty area, but it turned out the way it did, and by the end of the first half, the result wasn't so bad for us."
Wisła faces three away games in a row, and they need to accumulate points if they want to think about promotion. "We're making things very complicated for ourselves because the top two spots in the table are already a long way off. In sport, anything is possible, and you have to prepare for each match and try to win. If we manage to advance from the top two, great, but it will be difficult. If not, we have to fight for a play-off spot because we want to advance to the Ekstraklasa at all costs. Despite everything, there's still a lot of playing time left, and we simply have to pick up points in the next matches," he analyzed. "We now have three tough away matches. Regardless of the difficulties, our goal is to collect as many points as possible. We won't give up and we simply keep fighting because there's no other option. Starting next week, we have to prepare for the next matches," he continued.
In conclusion, Szot touched on the differences between their performances in the league and the Polish Cup: "Unfortunately, in recent league matches, things didn't work out the way we wanted. In the Polish Cup matches, our play seemed more energetic and effective. I wish we played like we did in the Polish Cup. Analyzing our matches, we noticed that we cope better with Ekstraklasa teams. Their game doesn't feature as many long balls or intense physical duels. Although our opponents are better technically and tactically, our team performs better in such conditions."
