Rudé: We always want to win
Wisła Kraków concluded their friendly season with a match against league rivals Górnik Łęczna in Myślenice. After the match, which the White Star won 1-0, we spoke with coach Albert Rudé.
"It was a good match for us, we played a total of 100 minutes because we wanted the friendly to last a little longer. To be honest, we kind of crushed the boys this week in terms of intensity. They ran 21 kilometers in four days, so we expected it might come
"Suffering" in that last friendly. Despite everything, the players tried to give their all, even though their legs were really heavy. I appreciate them for that, because they put in a lot of effort and did their job, and in the end we still won, which is very important for our morale, because we always want to win. There will be matches where sometimes we play better, sometimes worse, but we have to try to win every time, regardless of the circumstances," he began.
On Friday, Kamil Broda suffered an injury, which eliminates him from the fight for the first place between the posts of the Wisła goal.
"First of all, I'm very sorry because Kamil Broda has been through fantastic preparation. He worked very well and defended very well. He had a minor injury at the end of the camp, but quickly returned to training. Now, unfortunately, a more serious injury occurred during Friday's training session. I'll say it again – I'm very sorry that this happened. However, now we have time to make a decision and react appropriately. It's possible that we'll want to sign someone who will strengthen the team in Kamil's absence," he said.
Angel Baena and Patryk Gogół were missing from Saturday's friendly against Górnik Łęczna. What's the reason for their absence?
"Baena is healthy and has no injuries, but we wanted to ensure his comfort because he's had a tough preseason and needed to give him a break. Gogoł, on the other hand, has knee problems. We had to take him out of training for two days to give him some rest. On Monday, we'll know how the situation develops and whether he'll be able to return to training," he explained.
Michał Żyro, who fought hard to get back on the pitch after knee surgery, returned to action.
"I've been watching him very closely and seeing how hard he's worked, and that's why I'm especially happy he was finally able to play a few minutes. And that's what matters! Michał is part of our family and a man who, with his commitment and attitude, encourages others to improve. He has a competitive spirit. He's another player who can raise the bar," he added.
There's still a week left until the first league match after the winter break. What will the next few days look like in terms of preparations for the clash against Stal Rzeszów?
"We'll train on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and briefly on Saturday, and then we'll go into the match refreshed. This coming week, we'll focus more on the details and the things we still need to improve. This includes counterattacking, being aggressive in the third period. These are things that could be key to winning," explained coach Albert Rudé.
