Reserves: Lost sparring with Sandecja
Coach Bartosz Bąk's players faced Sandecja Nowy Sącz on Saturday afternoon in a friendly match at home. After a fierce battle, Wisła were forced to concede their opponents' superiority, losing 1-2. Karol Tokarczyk scored the only goal on target for the White Star.
From the referee's opening whistle, both teams launched into a fiercely competitive battle to impose their own style and gain an advantage over their opponents. The visitors initially pressed Wisła heavily, allowing them to fire several shots at Kacper Szewczyk's goal, forcing the young goalkeeper to intervene. The Kraków team were not indifferent to their opponents' attacks and constantly sought to temper their efforts, skillfully intercepting the ball and transporting it to the Nowy Sącz goal. However, the visitors proved more effective, invading the hosts' penalty area in the eighth minute and capping a successful move with a shot on target. Wisła's players remained fervent, patiently searching for a chance to pay back their opponents, which they did in the 25th minute, when Karol Tokarczyk found the back of the net. As it later turned out, the Polish national team had not yet said their last word in this part of the match, and as a result, they managed to beat the Wisła goalkeeper again before the break, setting the score at 1:2.
Fierce competition and further opportunities
After the break, the Kraków team began to fight back, but the visitors weren't about to rest. There was no shortage of chances for both teams in this part of the match, with both the White Star and Sandecja players repeatedly attacking the opposing goal, but without any real goals. The Nowy Sącz players gave the home side no respite, while the Kraków team, fully confident in their victory, pushed for victory, building on further attacks and creating chances in the opposition's penalty area. The White Star players were outnumbered in the final minutes of the match, and Karol Tokarczyk tried to equalize with a free kick, but his shot hit the wall. Ultimately, Sandecja Nowy Sącz emerged victorious, winning 1-2.
"Today, for the first time, we had the opportunity to face a team competing in the Second League. It was a very valuable match for us, allowing us to see our strengths and weaknesses. We didn't manage to win, but winning wasn't the most important thing. Despite the defeat, I'm pleased with the performance of my players, who left a lot of heart and energy on the pitch. We played on equal terms, were able to create positional attacks, but also play on the counter-attack. There were many positive moments in all phases of the match today," said reserve team coach Bartosz Bąk.
