Poletanović: We have one goal - to win matches
Wisła Kraków wins again! This time, coach Mariusz Jop's side faced Chrobry Głogów at home. Despite a poor start, the Kraków team ultimately prevailed 2-1. After the game, we spoke with Wisła midfielder Marko Poletanović.
The Wisła player first commented on the White Star's early goal concede, saying: "Joking, I could say it would have been better for us if we had started the match 0-1 down." However, he quickly added: "More seriously, it was a difficult match for us. Lots of chances, then a mistake and conceding a goal. However, it must be admitted that we showed character today and the desire to get back to the Ekstraklasa. The most important thing is the three points. There were a few matches where we played very well, but we didn't get the points. I hope we can continue our streak."
Wisła Kraków conceded their first and only goal of Wednesday's match after less than ten minutes. How did this situation affect the team from Wawel? "The conceded goal spurred us on. We know that in such a situation, we have to start playing more openly, we have to attack the opponent's goal more forcefully and score first one, then more," admitted Poletanović.
The White Star won 2-1, and the final result was significantly influenced not only by the players scoring for the team from Kraków, but also by goalkeeper Patryk Letkiewicz. "We have to be clear that Patryk Letkiewicz saved this match for us. What he saved against Warta and in today's game is invaluable. We have to thank him for that. He's a young guy who is developing, defends very well, and we're happy to have him," Marko praised his teammate.
Marko Poletanović has struggled with minor health issues for some time, but is now being given a chance to play by coach Mariusz Jop. "I just returned from injury. I don't think I'm fully fit enough to compete against teams every three days for the full ninety minutes," he said, adding, "But there's a lot of competition in the squad. Every player is trying, fighting to make the starting eleven, which has a positive impact on the team and its performance."
Wisła won the match against Chrobry Głogów, but they must now start thinking about their next matches. Their upcoming matches will be against teams lower in the table. "There are no easy matches in this league. My experience tells me that matches against teams further down the table are also demanding. We approach every game as if it were a final. We now have two matches against teams fighting for relegation, but we can't underestimate them. However, we have one goal: to win every match until the end of the season," he concluded.
