Łukasz Zwoliński: Football is important, but there are things even more important
It was a successful evening at Reymonta 22! Wisła Kraków's players comfortably defeated Stal Stalowa Wola 5-0, taking another important step towards their goal of returning to the Ekstraklasa. After the game, we spoke with White Star striker Łukasz Zwoliński.
Łukasz Zwoliński will certainly consider the match against Stal Stalowa Wola a success. Not only did the White Star take all three points, but the striker also broke through by scoring. "I'm very happy with the goal, because I've been waiting for it for a long time. But above all, I'm happy with everyone's reaction," Zwoliński began. "I received a lot of support from the fans, for which I'm grateful, and it will stay with me deeply. The reaction of the coaching staff, the guys on the team. It shows how well-coordinated a team we are. It's encouraging because we know how important the next two weeks are," he continued.
Łukasz Zwoliński's goal wasn't without its nerves. The referee waited a long time to decide whether the goal should be allowed, which it ultimately was. "Of my twenty goals, eighteen were 'warranted,' so I always had to wait a while," Zwoliński said with a smile, adding: "Honestly, at first I was sure it wasn't offside, but the longer the referee waited, the more I thought it might have been."
Wisła Kraków's players were incredibly motivated and hungry for victory from the start. Their pre-match attitude undoubtedly played a role. "The coach told us at the pre-match briefing that this might be our last match at Reymonta Stadium. He urged us to play it for the fans, to thank them for their support this season, and to do everything we can to win so that the fans can see us at our stadium again. It's a motivating boost before another important match in Rzeszów and the play-offs," admitted Zwoliński.
The White Star striker was also asked about his support for Jacek, a fan whose story can be a motivation for everyone. "I personally knew Jacek's story before. I found out yesterday that he had woken up. I believe football is important, but there are even more important things, like health. We're glad Jacek could be with us; he also had a chance to rejoice in the locker room after the match," he said, adding. "I believe we are all human beings, and in our hearts you feel joy and goodness when such wonderful moments happen. Then football fades into the background."
Łukasz Zwoliński also commented on the tremendous support Wisła Kraków's fans have shown the club's players. "The fans showed us tremendous support today. These are the kinds of moments you'll remember for the rest of your life. Being at Wisła Kraków for such a short time was also important to me. Despite the tough times, I received a lot of positive messages, which is very nice," he concluded.
