Łasicki: We finally have to start scoring regularly
Igor Łasicki took his place alongside Alan Uryga in Kołobrzeg, forming a central midfield pairing. He didn't return to the pitch after the break due to pain in his recently injured knee. After the #KOTWIS match, we spoke with the defender.
"My coach and I decided not to take any risks, because if I continued playing, who knows what could have happened. I've just played a full match in Belgium, and I've also had to travel, so I have to be careful when returning to the pitch. There's no point in risking a recurrence of the injury, hence the decision, but it's nothing serious," he explained. "I struggled a bit during the period I couldn't play. I did everything in my power to get back on the pitch. I dedicated my days to being 100 percent fit. Finally, my work paid off. I played the full 90 minutes for the first time in Belgium, and it was my first full match in a long time. I played another 45 minutes in Kołobrzeg. I hope I'll get more and more minutes, because I also need to get fit through matches. You just have to be in the right rhythm. Of course, there's competition for places, but that's everywhere, and you have to be ready for it. I'm happy to be playing, I'm happy to finally be with the team every day," he added.
Wisła Kraków are feeling a bit dissatisfied after their match in Kołobrzeg, as the White Star were clearly the better team. "I haven't played a match like this in a long time. We tried from every angle – right, left, center – and the goalkeeper saved everything. We had clear chances to score. Our opponents had one shot on target and scored from a set piece. We wanted to win and have a successful week, a successful international break, and now this result in Kołobrzeg erases our performance in Belgium and the win against Cercle. We played poorly, above all. The game looked good, but what good is that if we were so ineffective?" he analyzed.
The international break will calm things down a bit for the Kraków team, who have recently been facing a marathon of matches. "The break will be good for us, because it was a marathon. A lot of playing for the team, a lot of traveling. A little peace and quiet, clearing our heads will definitely be useful, and after this break, there's a match against Warta Poznań. We're playing at home, we need to win, we need to move up the table, because there's no denying that things are looking pretty mediocre right now..." he said.
Coach Ryszard Tarasiewicz has identified the White Star as the favorites in the race for promotion to the Ekstraklasa, to which Łasicki responded: "I've been here for three years and everyone considers us the favorites. Everyone says we play good football, that we have the best team, but we have to start showing it on the pitch. We have to start scoring points consistently. Kind words from our opponents won't get us points in the table. We just have to start winning, and winning regularly."
