Conference before #SPAWIS
The day before the #SPAWIS match, coach Kazimierz Moskal met with journalists. The press conference took place before the first match of the third round of qualifying for the Conference League.
Current health situation of the team:
- Igor Łasicki and Jesus Alfaro have resumed training with the team,
- Igor Sapała, Dawid Szot, Bartosz Talar and Enis Fazlagić train individually,
- Kacper Duda and Jakub Stępak are in the process of rehabilitation,
- Joseph Colley has had Achilles tendon surgery.
Kacper Duda is still on the injured list. When can we expect the midfielder to return? "I think it's hard for us to announce a specific date at this point. Kacper is definitely feeling better, but we haven't had any training yet, so it's hard to say anything," the coach began.
Carbo and Biedrzycki are returning, strengthening the White Star squad. "It's definitely a big deal for us, because we struggled in the last match. It also solves our league problem, as Marc and Wiktor will be able to play in the league as well. From my perspective, I'm certainly happy that this situation is happening. It definitely solves some problems for us," he said.
Wisła Kraków hasn't earned any points in recent matches. What can we do to prepare our team for the match against Spartak? "Let me say this so I'm understood. Of course, every defeat hurts, regardless of whether it's in the cups or the league. Defeats are painful, and I think everyone experiences them in some way. But let me be clear again – defeat in sport has always been, is, and will always be. For someone to win, someone has to lose. It's important that even when it happens, when one or the other defeat comes, it doesn't negatively impact the team. Given some negative emotions, we lose confidence. We lose faith in what we're doing, etc. I think every athlete, every team, should be prepared in this regard. For that defeat to come one day. Prepared doesn't mean resigned to it. I have to be immune to such things. How can I do that? I think the best way is to focus on the job. Everyone should focus on their own work. And try to do the things they need to do as well as possible. Let's start with the small things. Do the small things very well, then the bigger ones will come easier later," he noted. "Every athlete has a desire for revenge and rehabilitation. Of course, we've talked about it. But in sports, I don't think you can live in the past either. What happened yesterday or last week. No matter what result you achieved in your last match—whether you won or lost—it's already irrelevant. It's behind you. You have to look ahead and move forward. That's how you approach it, but as I said, the most important thing is for everyone to focus on what's ahead. We have another match ahead of us, and that's the only way to show our best and fight for a good result here," he said.
Spartak is a team with players with a history in Poland. Did that make preparations easier? "Several of the players who played in Poland are well-known. I'm thinking about Pich, Prochazka, Miković, and Bainović, who played in Poland. Could that make it easier? I don't know. We have the materials, we had a briefing on the opponent. I think what will be more important will be how we look on the pitch, not how much we know about Spartak Trnava and who plays there," he continued. "We had enough material to analyze their game. What do I think about them? This is a team that can play in various formations. We definitely know that. We know a few players intimately, as I've already mentioned – from playing on Polish pitches. But I would also like to strongly emphasize that our attitude will be more important. How we will counter Spartak on the pitch. That's the most important thing for me," he announced.
Frederico Duarte made his debut for the R22 team. Is he ready to play the full 90 minutes? "I think the difference is a little smaller. Tamas looked physically better, and I think he still does. Duarte is with us to be available at all times. Whether he'll be available from the start tomorrow, I don't know. I suspect that if he were to come on from the start, he wouldn't play the 90 minutes. But since he's here, everyone who's here is strongly considered to be on the pitch," he replied.
At the press conference, a question was asked about Alan Uryga's statement after the match in Pruszków, to which the coach responded: "I haven't heard that statement. I try to distance myself from all information after matches. I don't know how it was received. I don't think that was the context. I think the point was to focus on the league in the sense that it's also very important. You can't imagine that someone is calculating when they go out on the pitch. They're somehow saving themselves for the next match. I absolutely wouldn't suspect Alan or any other player on my team of that. We're taking this match in Trnava very seriously. It's the first match. Then we have the second leg at home, and of course, we're thinking about advancing."
Finally, a question was asked about the penalty for Tamas Kiss after receiving a red card. Karolina Kawula, spokesperson, addressed the matter: "All financial aspects regarding penalties are strictly internal to the club. We will not disclose them."
