Blind Football: Wisła with a domestic double!
Last weekend, Wisła Blind Football Kraków players won their sixth Polish Cup title in the section's history. Their gold medal was also their third in a row in the competition. In the final, the White Star defeated this year's sensation from the capital 1-0.
Last Sunday, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the final whistle of the grand finale of the eighth edition of the national cup sounded at the Rekord Bielsko-Biała sports facilities. For Dominik Foryś's team, it meant only one thing: the end of another golden season, in which the club will also add its sixth Polish Cup to its trophy cabinet, alongside the second league trophy won a few weeks ago.
Honestly, I don't even know how to describe or summarize it all. Last season was exceptional, but this one? It's a bit like we copied what happened in 2024 and pasted it into the 2025 achievements. Despite some turbulence during the past year, we were able to show who the best in Poland is. It's something extraordinary, something we couldn't have even dreamed of at the beginning of the season, which to the uninitiated might seem like a piece of cake," explains Kacper Domagała, midfielder wearing number 11.
White Star BF stormed through the group stage. Their first match against WIPS Lublin ended in a 7-0 victory. In their second match, which proved crucial to their promotion from top spot, against Niezłomni Zabrze BF, the scoreboard showed a 5-0 victory after the final whistle, and in the clash with the hosts from Bielsko-Biała, a 3-0 victory – 15 goals were scored in the group stage alone, scored by five of their six players.
It's been a long time since I've seen the boys so full of positive energy, motivated, united, and focused on the task at hand. Maybe it was the fact Kacper mentioned—the hardships of the entire season combined with the desire to achieve something historic—that created such an explosive combination. Regardless of the reason, they did what they had to do on the pitch, and we, as the coaching staff, simply supported them through it all," says Marek Żychowski, the club's physiotherapist, who had an exceptionally busy season.
This year's Polish Cup was also the first time our players didn't face Śląsk Wrocław Blind Football in the final – all due to surprising results in Group A, which was sensationally won by ARTS Warszawa Blind Football, the fifth-place team in last season's PGF Blind Football League. Coach Krzysztof Koc's players pulled off a major upset, and in the final, they proved that advancing from first place was no fluke.
We are players of the current national champions, and theoretically it didn't matter to us who we would face in the national cup final. However, we are all also supporters of the local competition, and as members of an engaged community, we followed the competition and results in Group A with a certain amount of emotion, which saw some very interesting reshuffles. At the same time, we are pleased that these "reshuffles" did not affect us in any way," adds Gabriel Olech, a young striker for Biała Gwiazda BF who played number 14 and scored five goals in the final season.
The final match was dominated by our team, which constantly struggled to control the ball. The Warsaw rivals effectively defended their goal thanks to a tight defensive block and a goalkeeper who continued to cause problems for the opposing attackers throughout the tournament. Nowicki occasionally led the ARTS team to attack, which intensified as the match progressed, but Marcin Ryszka effectively thwarted them. Less than five minutes after the halftime break, our team scored the golden goal. Due to the pressure, the Warsaw defender mishandled the ball, which ended up at the feet of Martin Jung, who found himself one-on-one with the opposing goalkeeper and scored the goal that sealed our victory and the tournament's top scorer title.
The final match was like opening a can; we had to work hard to find the goal we were looking for – to our surprise, the assist for my goal came from a defender from Warsaw. Regardless, we're just happy to have won the domestic double for the second year in a row, becoming the first team in history to do so. Absolutely fantastic," concludes Martin Jung, who scored seven goals for Wisła BF.
Sunday's match was the final straw for this year's season. The players and staff will have a short break to recharge their batteries, before returning to the training facilities to prepare for the rapidly approaching winter season. The final national team training camp of the year is also scheduled for late November, and several of our representatives will undoubtedly participate.
A huge round of applause to everyone involved in the blind football section, which has successfully carried out its tasks for another year, bringing joy and pride to our Wisła community. Congratulations!
