Żyro: Everyone must be demanding of themselves

Michał Żyro returned to the Pruszków pitch after the break and with his goal, gave the team the impetus to fight for the top spot. And so it was, and the White Star returned to Wawel with a crucial 3-2 victory over Znicz.

"Substitutions at halftime are definitely there to change the complexion of a game if it's not going well. I managed to do what I came on the pitch to do, which was score a goal. It really gave us a boost; we wanted to score more goals, and we did just that," the striker began.

David Junka's precise crosses were also crucial, opening the way for the opponent's goal. "Yes, but the change in formation was also important. I watched from the sidelines, and I think we weren't in the best position in the first half. There weren't enough of us in attack. After the break, David started playing practically as a winger. Thanks to him playing higher up, we dominated the wing, and that paid off," he continued.

When asked if he could explain what happened against Wisła Kraków in the first half, he replied: "I wasn't on the pitch and it's not appropriate for me to judge that first half, even out of respect for my teammates. I'll just say that after the draw in Płock, we knew we simply had to win against Znicz. The narrative was the same throughout the week, right up until we left the locker room, that we kept telling ourselves that we came to Pruszków to win and not concede a goal. Because we only played against Miedź Legnica with a goal down, so we wanted to change that. Already in Płock, we told ourselves not to concede a goal, because we played against a team that is equal to us in the table and we also conceded a goal there, and in Pruszków we even conceded two. So it doesn't depend on training, because we work on that. It doesn't depend on the coach, because he sensitizes us to all that. Therefore, it depends primarily on us. We make individual mistakes and it ends up that the opponent kicks twice towards the goal and it's 2-0. There is no There's only one rational explanation for this. In my opinion, it's about individual behavior that needs to be changed as quickly as possible. We're working to avoid conceding goals, and when we concede them too easily, we still do. It's good that thanks to our skills, we're able to turn these matches around and win them, because this isn't the first time this has happened."

Żyrko realizes that Wisła Kraków simply need to pick up points in their next matches to think about their goal of promotion. "We know where we stand in the table. For now, we have to look to Tuesday, to the match against Resovia. Even the coach won't help us here; everyone has to demand more from themselves. Let's do it like we did in the second half of the match against Znicz, throw the ball into the penalty area a lot, and chances will come. These are the things we lacked in Głogów, for example. We have to constantly create chaos in that penalty area. That's the key to winning in this league," he concluded.
