Sobolewski: Such a victory is a very important moment
Friday, December 1st brings another league match. This time, Wisła will play Bruk-Bet Termalica in Nieciecza. Watch the press conference with coach Radosław Sobolewski.
Medical report:
- Michał Żyro - is rehabilitating after knee surgery;
- David Junca - rehabilitation continues after ankle injury;
- Goku - biceps injury;
- Igor Łasicki has a cold, and Jakub Krzyżanowski has gastric problems.
Joseph Colley will not play due to yellow cards.
Ángel Rodado is recovering from an ankle problem.
"Angel fought very hard to get back to health as quickly as possible. The diagnosis predicted a longer treatment, but now things are looking really good. Angel is training with the team for the entire micro-cycle, fully loaded, and I can reveal that he will be in the starting 20. Angel is 100 percent ready. The boys tested him hard in training. His leg held up, and that's certainly encouraging, so he feels confident. He's eager to play and shows such strong character. I can see how much he wants to help the team this end of the year," he began.
Joseph Colley is sidelined due to a yellow card. Who can we expect to replace him?
"Everything fell into place here naturally, and now I'm predicting Eneko will play instead of Colley. He's the choice," he said. When asked if Dawid Szot would once again take over at left back, the coach replied: "In terms of personnel, we're only on Wednesday, but I don't think we'll be overthinking things with the defense, and our range of maneuver is also limited by illness and ailments."
Goku is also struggling with health complications after the match against GKS Katowice.
"We're doing everything we can to ensure Goku is ready and 100% ready for this match, but I can't give you any positive news at this time. He's not 100% ready yet, so we're taking things day by day. We're monitoring how his body reacts. We'll know more on Thursday. Tomorrow, a decision will be made on who will be going to the match in Nieciecza," he added.
"Of course, everyone knows how I look at the ball. I'm more in favor of the ball when it's controlled through possession. However, I can't be accused of being one-dimensional, because this wasn't the first match when we were looking to draw the opponent out of their half to open up spaces behind the defense. Also, during the opening period, in the first half, Alvaro Raton, you could say, used a direct, longer pass several times. We were looking for the left side, where Sobczak and Goku were supposed to drop. It's definitely easier for us to score goals when we have more space. It's harder for us to be effective if the opposing team sets up a low defense with ten players in their penalty area. Then it's difficult for us to push the ball into the goal, but even then, when the opponent stands low, we create chances. Then it's just a matter of keeping a cool head when finishing and hitting the target correctly. We'll see how Nieciecza plays. Here, they will be looking for solutions for different phases of the game, for different moments of the game, because we know that matches usually have different phases, and we must be prepared for each of them," he analyzed.
The competition with GKS Katowice may help Wisła become even stronger mentally.
"I keep instilling in the team that we have to play until the end. A Wisła player must demonstrate the highest level of mentality in this respect. I'm very pleased that we managed to turn the match in our favor towards the end. You could say that this was actually the first match where luck was on our side. I'm happy about that, but I want to repeat it because there were so many draws we had at home, which are a burden for me and my team. In those matches, we played really well, created chances. We lacked the finishing touch, we lacked the icing on the cake, we lacked the victory. I'm glad we managed to get it in the end, and certainly a victory like this, snatched away in the final seconds of the match, when most had stopped believing in it, is a very important moment for the team. I hope it will be a boost, and our confidence and our performance will be at an even higher level," he noted.
The Nieciecza team had two days less to prepare for Friday's clash. How might this impact Bruk-Bet's players?
"I'll start from the end. The Monday-Friday microcycle is enough time to properly recover. As for losses like these, they definitely stick in the subconscious. However, I wouldn't dwell on such things, because I know the Nieciecza team will be fully mobilized for the match against Wisła Kraków," he said.
What are, according to the coach, the strengths of the home team?
"The Nieciecza team is more comfortable attacking. The number of goals scored proves it, as they have the most in the league, right after us. The number of crosses and progressive passes is also high. In terms of attacking, this team looks really good and is a threat to anyone in the league. They do have their problems, though, but I'll leave that to myself," concluded coach Radosław Sobolewski.
