The streak continues! Odra - Wisła 1:2
The Polish Cup victory was followed by a league victory. White Star defeated Odra Opole 2-1 with goals from Goku and Bregu.
The start of the match in Opole promised an exciting spectacle – both teams played intensely, eager to open the scoring quickly. Instead of goals, fouls were the order of the day. Wisła's first opportunity came in the 6th minute when Goku's attempt was blocked by the Odra goalkeeper. The following minutes saw Wisła attacking, trying to get into the opponent's penalty area. A well-executed move in the 11th minute might have threatened the home side's goal, but Alfaro was effectively blocked. In response, the opponents had a chance following a corner kick, but they failed to capitalize.
Wisła had their chance moments later, but Bregu shot wide. The Kraków attack continued, but the ball refused to find the back of the net despite shots from Goku and Rodado, who missed on nearly perfect chances.
The threat from Opole came moments later, but Jaroch intercepted the ball as it headed towards the net. One hundred and twenty seconds later, Odra almost took the lead again, but first Raton cleared the ball, and then the opponent made a slight mistake.
The final period of the first half saw a slight loss of intensity, but not in the White Star's attacking play. However, the scoring was still lacking, especially in the closing stages. The hosts also failed to find it, squandering a golden opportunity before the break, specifically Niziołek.
Explanation after the break
The second half began with a goal for Wisła in the 50th minute, with Goku getting on the scoresheet with a close-range finish. Four minutes later, it was 2-0, with Dejvi Bregu scoring his first Wisła goal.
The remainder of the match saw Wisła continue to dominate, though without a goal. Odra also showed some flashes, pushing into the Kraków penalty area and trying to find a way to break down the R22's defense, but to no avail.
Odra came close to securing a goal in the 81st minute, but Galan's header went wide. The excitement continued until the very end, as stoppage time brought a penalty kick to the Śląsk team, which Rafał Niziołek converted. This was the last goal scored in Opole that evening, and the three points went to Kraków.
