Back for 3 points: #WISKOT 2:1

In Friday's match of the 25th round of the Betclic 1st League, Wisła Kraków hosted Kotwica Kołobrzeg. The match ended 2-1 in favor of the home side, with Alan Uryga and Angel Rodado scoring the winning goals.

True to their style of play, the Krakow team started the match with a high-flying approach and decisive possession, and their first attack could have resulted in a goal. In the second minute, Rodado found himself with the ball in front of the goalkeeper, losing a duel to Kotwica's goalkeeper, Marek Kozioł. An attempted rebound also failed to find the back of the net, and the Spanish striker had to wait a while longer to mark his 100th appearance.

In the following minutes, the siege around the penalty area continued for the visitors from Kołobrzeg. Both Zwoliński and Duarte attempted to surprise the goalkeeper with shots. In the 20th minute, Baena's shot from the goal line was explained away by one of the visiting defenders, keeping his team level. A first goal for the hosts was clearly in the air.

Coach Piotr Tworek's men attempted to create offensive opportunities, but quickly lost possession. In the 26th minute, Wisła Kraków emerged from one such careless, fast-paced attack, and the one-on-one situation with Angel Rodado was once again won in spectacular fashion by Kozioł, who was in excellent form this evening. The match evened out somewhat towards the end of the first half, but the visitors' efforts were insufficient to break Letkiewicz's lead. The score remained 0-0 at halftime.

Further struggles

This time, Kotwica made a brilliant start and, after the break, surprised the White Star defense. One of the players in red jerseys handled the ball in his own penalty area, and after a VAR review, referee Małyszek pointed to the 11-meter line. Denys Favorov confidently converted the penalty, and the visitors took the lead from the 51st minute. Clearly dissatisfied with this, the Kraków team immediately began to fight back, and were rewarded just five minutes later. Captain Alan Uryga rose highest to Poletanović's cross and headed home a 1-1 equalizer!

Wisła, riding high, continued their attacking attack, eager to take their first lead of the match. In the 66th minute, just like earlier on the other side of the pitch, a Kotwica defender handled the ball inside his own penalty area. The referee was forced to award a penalty, which was taken by none other than Angel Rodado. The Spaniard confidently cut the ball to the net and deceived the visiting goalkeeper! A swift turnaround, and the score was 2-1!

The second-goal scorer unfortunately had to leave the field shortly afterward due to injury, and was replaced by Olivier Sukiennicki in the 71st minute. Despite securing the lead, Mariusz Jop's team still wanted to secure a comfortable lead. In the 80th minute, Mikulec, after a fine dribble, connected with a shot, but the white-and-blues' goal frame prevented him from converting. As we entered the decisive phase of the match, the competition on the pitch became increasingly heated. Around the 90th minute, Favorov, the first penalty taker, received a red card for a ruthless tackle from behind, forcing Kotwica Kołobrzeg to finish the match shorthanded. The score remained unchanged, giving Wisła a deservedly important three points!
