Wisła BF Kraków: Perfect debut!
On April 27-28, the MOS Kraków Zachód stadium hosted a historic round of matches in the PGF Blind Football League, established in the fall of 2023. Wisła started the season flawlessly, collecting all three points and taking the lead.
Situated at the foot of Wawel Castle, the stadium witnessed historic moments as the Biała Gwiazda BF players kicked off the inaugural season of the Polish Blind Football League with a match against Warta Poznań BF. Coach Foryś's men defeated their opponents 4-0, with Martin Jung scoring all three goals.
"It was an extraordinary moment in history, not only for our team but for the entire sport – we're all the more pleased that we were the first to score and win. I'd be lying if I said we didn't feel stressed. Technically, we weren't playing anyone new, but practically, it was a new competition, and we wanted to get off to a good start. After Martin's first goal, the pressure was off and we felt more relaxed, which stayed with us for the rest of the round," says coach Dominik Foryś.
A convincing victory over the bronze medalists from last year's Polish Cup was a sort of appetizer before the main course, which was a duel with the most dangerous players on the entire roster, Śląsk Wrocław BF. It was a completely different encounter, full of physical combat and hard work, capped off by Paweł Zinkow's stunning goal, which was worth all three points.
" I'm very happy to have scored such an important goal. These may be the three most important points our team has earned throughout the entire tournament, but it's difficult to judge now, just after the start. We have the return match in Wrocław ahead of us, as well as several other matches in which we cannot underestimate our opponents. We have built up a certain advantage, and now we need to capitalize on it," noted Paweł Zinkow, Wisła BF midfielder.
On Sunday, our team faced the Niezłomni Zabrze BF team, winning 6-0 with ease. Olech, Ryszka, and Jung scored four times. The score could have been higher if not for the fantastic form of the Śląsk team's goalkeeper.
"It was a very successful start to the league. We performed very well against every opponent, but we don't want to get complacent, as there's always room for improvement. The next round is in June, on difficult terrain. We have plenty of time to recover, especially since some of us are struggling with injuries. Training, recovery, hard work. This is what the coming weeks will look like for us," emphasized Marcin Ryszka, captain of Biała Gwiazda BF.
The second round will be played in the capital of Lower Silesia on June 8-9. Biała Gwiazda BF will face BTS Rekord Bielsko-Biała BF and Śląsk Wrocław BF.
We encourage fans to mark this date in their calendars now to cheer on the players of our blind football section during this difficult trip.
