Wisła II: Defeat at the end of the season
Wisła Kraków's reserves ended the 2024/2025 season in Betclic's 3rd League, Group IV, with a 2-0 away defeat to Siarka Tarnobrzeg. Although the opening minutes offered hope for a close contest, the hosts quickly seized control of the match, settling the score in the first half. For the young Kraków team, it was another match where, despite their commitment and effort, they lacked substance. Wisła II finishes the season in 12th place in the table.
The hosts sent a clear warning signal to Wisła in the fourth minute when, after a well-executed move, the ball found the net. However, Siarka's joy was quickly tempered by the referee, who ruled the game offside. This was the first moment that showed the Kraków team's defense would have their hands full that day. In the following minutes, Siarka continued their offensive with long-range shots, crosses, and dangerous crosses into the penalty area, causing Wisła's defense considerable problems. In response, the visitors were also able to create chances. Wisła's best opportunity came in the eighth minute. Mateusz Stanek, with the ball at his feet, beat two opponents and passed the ball through to Kamil Kaczówka, who won the duel with the defender and fired a dangerous shot – unfortunately, it was narrowly off target. Two minutes later, Siarka faced another threat in front of the goal. This time, after Kaczówka's move, the home defense cleared the ball for a corner. It seemed the match might go Krakow's way, but in the 21st minute, everything began to unravel. After some confusion in the penalty area, Siarka's first shot hit the post, but Emmanuel François was right where he should have been and opened the scoring with a powerful rebound. Just three minutes later, Siarka doubled their lead. Japanese Kōsei Iwao headed François's cross into the net. Both goals were the result of a too-passive defense and a lack of decisiveness in marking.
Fight to the end, but without results
In the second half, Wisła tried to get back into the game. Radosław Wójcicki had the best chance to score a goal in the 62nd minute, firing in from distance, but the Siarka goalkeeper confidently parried the shot. There were still moments of hope – Alex Bugaj delivered a brilliant pass into the penalty area, Yehor Khromych faced only a defender but couldn't control the ball. Maksym Tsymbaliuk also tried from distance, but was unsuccessful. In the closing stages, the hosts regained the initiative, but despite several good chances, they couldn't extend their lead. Wisła were saved from a deeper defeat by goalkeeper Bartłomiej Fojt, who made several successful saves.
