Victory in the last friendly: #WISHUT 3:1
A week before their league debut, the White Star hosted Hutnik Kraków in Myślenice. Coached by Mariusz Jop, they defeated their local rivals 3-1 with goals from Zwoliński, Szot, and Duda.
In the opening stages of the match, the R22 players were clearly the better side, seizing the initiative and forcing their way into Hutnik's penalty area, which quickly led to a lead. Zwoliński opened the scoring in the fifth minute, maintaining his scoring streak from the friendly matches.
The White Star refused to stop. Baena and Zwoliński threatened the opposing goalkeeper in subsequent moves, but this time they were unsuccessful. It wasn't until 15 minutes later that Hutnik threatened Letkiewicz's goal for the first time, but Uryga was quick to intervene. Bełycz tried his hand at the shot, but it only cleared the Wisła goalpost, and Słomka's shot went wide.
The final period of the first half saw the match evenly matched. Both teams were pushing for the goal, with Rodado and Hoyo-Kowalski taking the lead. The second-division side came close late on, hitting the crossbar again. Rodado responded with a free kick in the 39th minute, but ultimately failed to convert. The score remained unchanged at halftime, despite both teams determined to score another goal.
Hits after the break
The White Star took to the pitch with the same lineup and were the first to threaten their opponents. Wisła continued to attack, but their effectiveness was lacking. The second goal of the match had to wait until the 60th minute, when Szot chipped in a shot that had been hit against the post by Zwoliński.
In the 60th minute, coach Jop brought on substitutes who brought some freshness, but it wasn't the White Star who got on the scoresheet. Hutnik, eager to make a splash, earned a penalty after Duda fouled an opponent in the penalty area. Kamil Głogowski converted the penalty in the 75th minute, putting the Nowa Huta side in touch with Wisła.
After a close, hard-fought final period, the final touch was a stunning goal from Kacper Duda. The midfielder sealed the victory against his local rivals and atoned for an illegal stoppage moments earlier.
