Wisła takes home three points: #WARWIS 0:1

Wisła Kraków returns to Kraków with three points! Coach Mariusz Jop's team faced Warta Poznań away in the 26th round of the Betclic I League. The Kraków side proved more effective in this encounter, winning 1-0 thanks to a goal from Rafał Mikulec.

Coach Jop's men tried to set a high tempo from the outset, and in the opening minutes they showed they weren't about to wait passively for events to unfold. In the second minute, Kraków won a corner, which Kacper Duda sent into the penalty area, but Warta's defenders remained vigilant. Although Wisła set the tone, the hosts gradually began to find their rhythm. In the eighth minute, however, the White Star almost took the lead when Kiakos's cross found Zwoliński, who slotted the ball into the net from close range. The euphoria was short-lived – the referee ruled for offside, and the goal was disallowed. The match continued at a brisk pace, with numerous attempts to break through the defense. Wisła continued to create chances, but also had to contend with attempts from the hosts. In the 13th minute, after a well-paced move and a cross from Kiss, Mikulec fired a powerful shot, but the goalkeeper successfully saved. Moments later, Mikulec tried his luck again, this time hitting the side netting. Warta were quick to respond – in the 27th minute, Rajsel launched a dangerous attack, but Letkiewicz kept his composure and reacted well. The Kraków team didn't give up and continued their attacks, creating one of the best chances of the half in the 36th minute. Kiss's cross was lost to Zwoliński, but Kiakos was lurking at the far post, forcing Kajzer to save. Just two minutes later, Warta again threatened the White Star goalkeeper's goal. After a quick counterattack, Firlej found himself one-on-one with Letkiewicz, but the Wisła goalkeeper was once again flawless. However, the remainder of the first half belonged to the visitors from Kraków. Wisła's attacking style became increasingly bold, forcing Warta onto the defensive and frequently finding themselves in their penalty area. In the 44th minute, a corner kick caused a stir – Jaroch almost scored, but Warta's defenders blocked his shot. Moments later, after another corner, Alfaro tried his luck with a long-range shot, the ball sailing over the crossbar. Mikulec attempted another attempt in stoppage time, but once again the home goalkeeper prevailed.

Mikulec's three-pointer

After the break, both teams attacked, but clear-cut chances were scarce. The game soon picked up pace, and coach Jop's players had reason to celebrate. In the 56th minute, Mikulec passed the ball into the penalty area to Zwoliński, who received the ball and attempted to cross it across the face of goal. The ball struck a Warta player, and the onrushing Mikulec capitalized on the confusion and confidently slotted it into the net, giving Wisła the lead! The opposing team responded quickly. In the 62nd minute, Michalski fired a powerful shot, but Letkiewicz again made a superb save, lifting the ball over the crossbar. Wisła didn't let up, patiently searching for opportunities to increase their lead. In the 72nd minute, the ball circulated for a long time in the home penalty area, but Kiss's shot went wide. In the 79th minute, the visitors had a chance to double their lead when Duarte passed the ball to Kiakos. He passed the ball to Zwoliński, who fired wide. In the 82nd minute, the home side had a golden opportunity to equalize – Drzazga received a long pass and tried to pass Letkiewicz, but the visiting goalkeeper showed incredible reflexes and saved the shot. Late in the match, in the 89th minute, Duarte again passed the ball to Kiakos, but the player's shot went wide at the near post, leaving the score unchanged.
