Wisła II: Opening draw

On Saturday afternoon, Wisła II Kraków kicked off the Betclic 3rd League campaign. In the first match of the season, Wisła drew 1-1 with KSZO 1929 Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, with Maciej Kuziemka scoring the goal for the White Star.

The White Star started the match better, although it was the visitors who had the first shot on target in the fifth minute. Wisła pressed their opponents hard and continued their attacks. First, Wiktor Szywacz attempted a long-range shot, but he failed to threaten their opponents. Moments later, the Kraków side regained control and finally achieved their goal – Mateusz Stanek kept the ball in play after a drawn-out cross, passed it to Kuziemka, who slotted the ball into the net, opening the scoring. Both teams were playing on the verge of fouls, but KSZO were more comfortable in this rather frantic and aggressive game, resulting in an equalizer from Dominik Pisarek in the 37th minute.

An even fight

Coach Bartosz Bąk's players started the second half again on the brightest note. The visiting goalkeeper parried a powerful Mateusz Młyński shot for a corner, which Maciej Kuziemka missed. As the minutes ticked by, the Ostrowiec team took the initiative, and in the 66th minute, Patryk Letkiewicz made a brilliant save. Just four minutes later, a free kick from the post saved Wisła Kraków. The home side also faced a dangerous situation in the 78th minute, when Szymon Kot made a slight mistake. Moments later, the visitors struck again directly from the free kick, but Letkiewicz remained alert. In the 88th minute, Michał Zimon received a second yellow card, resulting in a red card, but the Kraków side's shorthanded play didn't affect the final score. Ultimately, both teams had to settle for a single point.
