Wisła II: Sparring defeat against Rekord

The White Star's second team faced Rekord Bielsko-Biała away in their first friendly match of the 2024/25 season preparations. The hosts proved less than welcoming, and the Kraków team was forced to concede superiority, losing 2-0.

Wisła concluded their inaugural week of preparations with a friendly match against Rekord. Initially, the Kraków team performed well against their opponents, building early coherent attacks and maintaining possession advantage. The White Star players created chances in front of Bielsko-Biała's goal, one of which came after Radosław Skała's cross into the penalty area reached Michał Zimon, whose shot sailed over the crossbar. The hosts tried to seize the initiative, but the visitors remained dominant and soon attacked Rekord's goal again. Dominik Sarga shot from the right, forcing the goalkeeper to make a save, then met Wiktor Szywacz, and another good save from the opposing goalkeeper. In the 14th minute, Kraków earned a corner, which Michal Zimon stepped up to head in and fired the ball straight at Michał Bierzało. The player jumped for the ball, but shot it slightly too high, causing it to miss the net. As the minutes ticked by, the home side began to assert themselves, trying to thwart Wisła's attempts. Rekord's players forced their way into Wisła's penalty area, and in the 27th minute, they finally achieved their goal, taking advantage of a defensive inattention and opening the scoring after a well-executed move. This lead bolstered the home side, who increasingly challenged the White Star. Both teams fought fiercely for chances for the remainder of the half, but the home side were now slightly more effective. Coach Bartosz Bąk's men also persevered, but they failed to find an equalizer before halftime.

A difficult match against a demanding opponent

The Kraków team came out with a completely different lineup for the second half and immediately set about making up for lost time. However, Wisła's plans were quickly thwarted by the hosts, who launched an attack in the 49th minute and secured their second goal. Rekord's players kept the pressure on their opponents, searching for further opportunities to shoot at the goal guarded by Patryk Letkiewicz, while the Kraków team rose to the occasion, repelling the pressure. The home side organized themselves defensively, making it extremely difficult for the visitors to break through their defense and create opportunities in the penalty area. The Kraków team persevered until the very end, believing they could turn the match around, but it was Rekord's players who reigned supreme and prevented their opponents from taking the victory away from them.
