Wisła II: Breakthrough and high victory against Podhale
On Saturday afternoon, coach Aleksander Mikhailov's side faced Podhale Nowy Targ, currently in third place in the Betclic III Liga table, at home. The White Star displayed excellent form, capping their performance with a resounding 5-0 victory. Filip Baniowski scored twice, while Mateusz Młyński, Maciej Kuziemka, and Karol Tokarczyk added a goal each.
Both teams approached this match with a strong desire to secure a victory, which was evident from the opening moments. The teams engaged in a fierce battle in midfield, repeatedly forcing their way into the opposing penalty area, but initially posing little threat. Wisła created one of their first clear-cut opportunities in the 26th minute, when Wiktor Szywacz fired a shot across the face of goal, but a good save by the Podhale goalkeeper prevented the visitors from conceding.
The key moment in the half came shortly afterward – in the 32nd minute, Filip Baniowski passed the ball to Mateusz Młyński, who slotted home from close range. Before the break, the hosts managed to extend their lead further thanks to a goal from Maciej Kuziemka. The young Wisła player collected a long pass from Danylo Boiko, ran with the ball into the penalty area, and scored Wisła's second goal.
A shower of goals and a long-awaited victory
After the break, the opposition began to dominate, pressing Wisła's players hard. Podhale threatened the White Star's goal several times, but Kamil Broda displayed excellent form. After a better start by the visitors, the home side began to regain control, but their opponents also persisted, mounting a series of well-organized attacks. They ultimately failed to capitalize on any of them, largely due to interventions by the Wisła goalkeeper.
It was a completely different story for the hosts. Wisła gained momentum and launched an attack in the 82nd minute, during which Filip Baniowski, after a pass to Wiktor Szywacz, found himself one-on-one and beat the visiting goalkeeper. The final period of the match definitely belonged to the Kraków side. Just before the end of regulation time, Karol Tokarczyk found the net with his left foot, and moments before the final whistle, he passed the ball to Filip Baniowski, who fired home from just outside the penalty area.
