Wisła II: defeat against Podlasie
Wisła Kraków's second-team team lost 2-0 away to Podlasie Biała Podlaska in the 12th round of the Betclic III League. The hosts opened the scoring in the eighth minute, and after the break, they secured the match's outcome after a penalty kick.
Wisła's players entered the match in Biała Podlaska eager to bounce back from their 3-2 defeat to Wisłoka Dębica. However, Aleksander Mikhailov's side were quickly caught off guard. In the eighth minute, after a fast-paced attack, the hosts opened the scoring. Maciej Wolicki had no chance after a shot from one of their opponents from the edge of the penalty area.
However, Wisła gradually regained the initiative and increasingly visited their opponents in the penalty area. In the 28th minute, a quick counterattack between Wiktor Szywacz and Mateusz Młyński resulted in Yehor Khromykh receiving the ball in the penalty area, but the White Star midfielder's shot was saved by the Podlasie goalkeeper.
Ten minutes later, after a deep pass, Młyński found himself face-to-face with the local goalkeeper, but his chip shot went wide of the Podlasie goal. This was by far Wisła's best chance before the break.
Just after the break, Młyński was brought down in the Podlasie penalty area after a challenge, but the referee remained unmoved. Moments later, Maciej Kuziemka made a bold individual move, daring between several opponents, but his powerful shot was saved by the Biała Podlaska goalkeeper.
Just when it seemed Wisła had control of the match, in the 54th minute, Khromykh illegally held up one of their opponents in their own penalty area, and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. One of the opponents proved to be the sure-fire keeper, and Podlasie already had a two-goal lead.
Alexander Mikhailov's men tried to close the gap but couldn't even find a goal. Wiktor Szywacz and Młyński had the best chances, hitting the crossbar with a free kick in the 86th minute.
In the end, Dominik Sarga, Karol Tokarczyk and Karol Sałamaj also entered the field, but this did not change the fate of the match.
In the next round, Wisła Kraków's second-place team will host Podhale Nowy Targ at the Prądniczanka stadium. The referee's first whistle will sound on Saturday, October 19th at 12:00 noon.
