Woźniak: We play the best Amp Football in Poland
The first day of the Amp Futbol Ekstraklasa league campaign is behind us. Wisła Kraków faced Radomiak Radom and Kuloodporni Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała, winning both matches. After the matches concluded, we spoke with Wisła Kraków's goalkeeper, Igor Woźniak.
Wisła Kraków played their first match against Radomiak Radom. The White Star proved to be much stronger, and the match ended after less than ten minutes. Due to an injury, the Radom player had to leave the pitch, and his team didn't have enough players to continue the game. "Honestly, we expected the match to go like this. We were aware that two Radom players were suspended for two red cards. So we wanted to score as many goals as possible as quickly as possible. We knew that the number of goals scored would be added to the league table, and then they could count towards the final standings. We scored five goals in less than ten minutes, so I think it's a very good result," began the Wisła goalkeeper.
After the early end of the match against Radomiak, Wisła players didn't waste any time and played a fifteen-minute internal game among themselves: "I think this game happened for two reasons. We played it out of respect for the fans who came to support us. We wanted them to see us in action as long as possible, so I think we created a nice spectacle with goals. The second reason was that we hadn't seen the whole team together for a long time. Our last match was in June, so we wanted to get some practice in and communicate on the pitch. It was a good move on our part."
Next came a match against Bulletproof Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała, which ended in a victory for Wisła. "This match was definitely more difficult. Podbeskidzie set the bar high, played some great football, and had their chances, especially when we were shorthanded. Matches against this opponent are always of a high standard and always tense. We were aware of that, but this time we stood our ground," noted the Wisła player.
Wisła Kraków has two more matches on Sunday. The Kraków team will play Legia Warsaw and Warta Poznań. "I think the Wisła vs. Legia match is a completely different experience for the fans, and it's the same for us. You could say it's going to be a war in this first match. We'll want not only to win, but to score a lot of goals against them," said Woźniak, adding, "Of course, Legia has made a few additions, they have good players, but I think we play the best Amp Football in Poland. Then we have a match against Warta, which has also strengthened, and Marcin Oleksy is "in the footballing spirit." We'll see, we'll fight for three points," he argued.
The Champions League group draw, the competition in which Wisła Kraków will participate, also took place in recent days. How does the goalkeeper assess the White Star's opponents? "First impression? The group of death. The first match against Sahinbey, the second against Evertone, the third against Cork City. I think that playing the first match against such an opponent will either be a good omen for us if we win, or if we don't win, we'll want to make up for it in the next matches. And if it's a draw, it will be disappointing. Any result will be good for us, but the goal is one – to get out of the group and reach the final. I hope that happens. The group is demanding, but considering previous Champions Leagues, our opponents in the group weren't as demanding. And maybe if we show our full potential, we'll manage to reach the final and finally win it," concluded Woźniak.
