Wisła Kraków is a partner of the "Health Trip" event
The Urszula Smok Foundation "Podaruj Życie" together with friends is organizing the first meeting in southern Poland promoting physical activity among oncology patients and those after bone marrow transplantation.
The Urszula Smok Foundation "Podaruj Życie" (Give Life) and its friends are organizing the first event in southern Poland promoting physical activity among cancer patients and bone marrow transplant recipients. The event, scheduled for November 17th, is dedicated to the memory of coach Franciszek Smuda, who worked with OnkoSport to organize this event. Wisła Kraków is a partner.
The "Health Trip" event will be held at the Active Academy in Giebułtów, where Franciszek Smuda trained under the supervision of specialists and physiotherapists. The trainer wanted to show other patients how he returned to his pre-treatment physical activity. He believed that regular physical activity has extraordinary power and improves quality of life. Trainer Franciszek Smuda wanted to share his knowledge and experience with other patients.
Participants will include bone marrow transplant recipients, cancer patients, and their loved ones. The guest of honor will be Małgorzata Drewniak-Smuda, the coach's wife. Specialists (physiotherapists and a doctor) and friends of Mr. Franciszek will participate, as well as invited guests, including Grzegorz Urbańczyk, a Polish rowing representative. Representatives of Wisła Kraków will also be present.
"Together with Mr. Franciszek Smuda – a sports legend – we, as bone marrow transplant recipients, wanted to get cancer patients moving. We know from our own experience how important and necessary regular physical activity is. What I started with Mr. Franciszek, I am now continuing with his friends. OnkoSport is a rising star in the field of oncology," said Urszula Smok, President of the "Podaruj Życie" Foundation.
"Franek has been involved in sports, football, for most of his life. Over time, as a coach, he placed more emphasis on coaching than on his own activity, which was also related to the effects of numerous injuries he suffered as an active footballer.
He was a patient who followed his doctor's instructions, and as soon as he was advised to exercise, he approached it professionally. He enrolled at the Activ Academy Giebułtów, where he trained diligently under the supervision of specialists. Returning to physical activity not only helped him improve his overall fitness, but above all, it served as excellent mental therapy, giving him emotional strength and strengthening his motivation to continue his difficult fight against the disease," added Franciszek Smuda's wife, Małgorzata Drewniak-Smuda.
OnkoSport includes:
- Free weekly fitness classes at My Fitness Place, located at Na Lotnisku 3. We've ensured comfortable meetings and exercise in a comfortable setting. Classes are led by a fitness trainer who, as a physiotherapist, cares for cancer patients on a daily basis;
- we are organizing the "Outing for Health" event in the place where Franciszek Smuda trained under the supervision of experts and physiotherapists;
- multi-day sports trips to the seaside. Two have taken place so far, in September 2023 and 2024.
From 2012 to 2015, the Foundation organized the "Bag and Tie Packed with Goodness" campaign, which included charity auctions of items donated by well-known and respected individuals. The proceeds were used to support families affected by cancer. Franciszek Smuda and Jakub Błaszczykowski joined the effort, donating their ties.

The public task is co-financed by the City of Krakow
