#WisłaWLarze: Victory over Zoria
Wednesday marked Wisła Kraków's friendly against Zorya Luhansk, their first test on Turkish soil. Coach Mariusz Jop's side defeated their opponents 2-1, with goals from Angel Rodado (a penalty) and Łukasz Zwoliński.
Despite a decent start by Wisła, it was their opponents who took the lead in the 10th minute. A Zorii player took advantage of Angel Baena's slipping on the water and slotted the ball into the net.
The Krakow team tried to surprise their opponents from the wide areas of the pitch, but to no avail. In the 16th minute, Budkiviskiy hit the crossbar, giving Broda a slight scare. Baena responded by racing towards goal, but his opponent proved faster.
The following minutes saw no change. Rodado, for example, tested the goalkeeper's skills, but his shot went to the opponent. Baena and Duarte were also active, but their attacks were halted at the 16-meter mark.
The final phase of the first half saw a flurry of attacking attempts. Kuziemka, for example, attempted a shot, but lacked precision. Moments later, Rodado was fouled in the penalty area, and he easily converted the penalty.
The first half remained goalless. During the break, coach Mariusz Jop substituted players, giving almost all of his available players a chance to showcase their skills.
One goal better
Wisła opened the second half with a long-range shot, but Duda's shot only hit the goalkeeper. What Dudi failed to do, Łukasz Zwoliński succeeded, giving the White Star the lead in the 50th minute, capitalizing on a brilliant pass from Baniowski.
The next few minutes saw the Kraków side take advantage, attempting to deny their opponents access to their own penalty area. However, they found a way to threaten Letkiewicz, but without producing a goal.
That wasn't the end for the Ukrainian team. First, they had the ball in the net, but the referee called it offside, and then Letkiewicz made a brilliant save after Kyrylo's shot. Petar also came close, but the ball narrowly missed the post.
In the final phase, the Luhansk team were more active, forcing Wisła to defend. The R22 team focused on counterattacks, but the score remained unchanged. Wisła thus won the first Turkish friendly 2-0.
