Wisła II: Breakthrough with Wiązownica
The White Star's second team hosted KS Wiązownica on Friday afternoon in the 16th round of the Betclic III League. The Krakow team managed to break their losing streak, thrashing their opponents 5-0.
Mateusz Młyński found the net twice from penalty kicks, and Piotr Starzyński, Yehor Khromykh, and Michał Zimon added a goal each. The first half was a fairly even affair, with the teams battling it out primarily in midfield. Eventually, however, the home side began to seize the initiative, taking the lead in the 11th minute. After a Wiślak player took a shot, a Wiązownica player handled the ball in the penalty area, prompting the referee to award the penalty at the 11th meter mark. Mateusz Młyński stepped up to take the penalty and converted the set piece, opening the scoring.
The visitors quickly moved to close the gap, creating chances. The same was true for Wisła, who refused to rest on their laurels. Danylo Boiko, for example, had a good chance with a confident free-kick, but the visiting goalkeeper brushed the ball over the crossbar. Soon, Piotr Starzyński was fouled in the penalty area, and the referee awarded another penalty. Mateusz Młyński was again effective, beating the Wiązownica goalkeeper for the second time. Late in the period, Filip Baniowski had another chance to increase the score, collecting a pass from Karol Dziedzic, but Wisła's shot miserably hit the crossbar.
The goal bag is solved
After the break, the visitors became more active, rising to the occasion, striving for a goal. This proved fruitless, as the Kraków team organized themselves defensively, fending off attacks from their opponents. After initial pressure from their opponents, Wisła took matters into their own hands, and in the 55th minute, Karol Dziedzic delivered a cross into the penalty area to Piotr Starzyński. The White Star player took a perfect shot, firing under the crossbar to make it 3-0.
Despite the unfavorable situation, the visitors persisted in their attempts to break down Wisła's defense, but it was the hosts who dominated. In the 82nd minute, the Kraków team launched a counterattack, which led to Yehor Khromykh finding himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper and finding the back of the net. Shortly before the end of regulation time, the Reymont team won a free kick. Michał Zimon stepped up and fired a direct shot, making it 5-0.
