Wisła II: points shared with Sandecja
Wisła Kraków's second team earned their third draw of the Betclic III League season. Coach Bartosz Bąk's side held a long lead against Sandecja Nowy Sącz thanks to Dawid Olejarka's goal, but from the 66th minute on, they were forced to make do with a man down after Wiktor Szywacz received a red card. In the final minute of the match, Kamil Słaby took advantage of the opportunity and denied Wisła the chance to get three points, placing the ball in Patryk Letkiewicz's goal.
After two draws with KSZO Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski (1:1) and Świdniczanka Świdnik (3:3), Wisła faced Sandecja Nowy Sącz on Saturday afternoon, which had a full set of points after two series of matches.
The team from Nowy Sącz was considered the favorite, but it was the White Star players who held the lead for long stretches and dictated the game. From the very first minutes, Dawid Olejarka stood out for Wisła, firing a shot narrowly over the opposition's goal in the eighth minute.
A thunderous end to the first half
Sandecja then twice threatened the goal guarded by Patryk Letkiewicz, but the score remained unchanged. Wisła regained the upper hand in the closing stages, with Olejarka once again taking center stage. First, his unsigned shot narrowly missed Sandecja's goal, but in the 41st minute, after a mix-up in the penalty area, the 22-year-old found the back of the net. However, Wisła should have gone into the break with a two-goal lead. In stoppage time, the referee called for a penalty kick after a handball by one of their opponents, but Wiktor Szywacz failed to convert.
After the break, Wisła controlled the match. However, the complexion of the game changed dramatically in the 66th minute, when Wiktor Szywacz received his second yellow card, and consequently a red card. From that point on, the visitors from Nowy Sącz took the initiative, but Patryk Letkiewicz performed very well between the posts.
In the fifth minute of stoppage time, however, the demons from Świdnik returned. Wisła's second-team goalkeeper managed to save one more shot, but moments later Kamil Słaby slotted the ball into the net. After this, the referee blew the final whistle.
Wisła has three points after three Betclic III league matches. Now Bartosz Bąk's team faces a small marathon. On Wednesday, Wisła will play away against Korona Kielce's second-place team (kick-off at 5:00 PM), and next Saturday, at Prądniczanka's stadium, we will host Chełmianka Chełm. Kick-off is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
