Wisła II: A painful defeat against Kalwarianka
The White Star's second team faced Kalwarianka Kalwaria Zebrzydowska on Friday afternoon at the Jagiellonian University Campus. The visitors proved superior, while the home team suffered a bitter defeat. The match ended 5-2, with Dominik Sarga and Kamil Kaczówka scoring for the Reymont team.
Kalwaria Zebrzydowska took the initiative early in the match, pressuring the Kraków team and launching the first serious attacks. One of these, in the sixth minute, saw them beat the Wisła goalkeeper with a close-range shot, and shortly after, they once again made their mark on the White Star defense, extending their lead. Despite the clock ticking away, the pattern of play remained unchanged – the visitors continued to dominate, while the hosts struggled to find a foothold. Kalwaria Zebrzydowska's attempts were quick. In the 23rd minute, they found the back of the net for the third time, guarded by Wolicki, and four minutes later, they were again successful after a corner and a header. Wisła finally began to mobilize to disrupt their opponents, creating their first clear-cut chances. Karol Tokarczyk and Maksym Tsybmaliuk had several excellent opportunities, but they failed to capitalize. The breakthrough came just before halftime, when Dominik Sarga found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper and fired home a well-placed shot to the far corner. Just as it seemed the home side were gradually regaining their footing, the visitors struck again. The White Star goalkeeper carelessly stepped out of goal, and his opponent easily got past him with the ball and slotted it into the net.
Better play and lack of effectiveness
In the second half, the Kraków team clearly learned from the first half and their play improved significantly. The match was evenly matched for a long time, but the hosts took the initiative at times, creating more chances. Right at the start of the half, in the 47th minute, Kamil Kaczówka perfectly navigated the chaos in Kalwarianka's penalty area and, with a cool head, beat the opposing goalkeeper to score his second goal. Both teams persisted in their attempts to break down the opposition defense and change the score, but neither player was able to shine again. Just before the end of regulation time, Michał Prochwicz was fouled in the penalty area, and the referee awarded a penalty. Danylo Boiko stepped up to take the set piece but unfortunately hit the crossbar, resulting in a 5-2 victory for the visitors.
