U-19: Another win! Górnik defeated

Wisła Kraków U-19 players are strengthening their position at the top of the Central Junior League. The White Star's senior juniors defeated Górnik Zabrze 3-1 in Myślenice on Saturday afternoon. Łukasz Staniów and Tomasz Dusik secured Wisła's ninth league victory, with one own goal.

Wisła Kraków U-19 players followed up their victory in Opole with a 3-1 victory over Górnik Zabrze in Myślenice on Saturday afternoon in the 14th round of the Central Junior League.

By halftime, coach Karol Nędza's men were leading 2-0, with Łukasz Staniów and Tomasz Dusik finding the back of the net. Wisła opened the scoring in the 16th minute. The ball circled the penalty area and finally found Staniów, who found the back of the net with a shot from around 16 meters. In the 26th minute, Staniów's pass from deep behind the defense led to Dusik, who lobbed the ball past the Zabrze goalkeeper.

Wisła had a chance to extend their lead before halftime. Wiktor Benedyktowicz, among others, had a great chance, finding himself in a good position, but his header went wide.

After the break, Zabrze responded quickly, recouping some of the deficit in the first half. Zabrze seized the initiative and forced Wisła onto the defensive.

However, the final say belonged to the team led by coach Karol Nędza. In the 77th minute, a free kick by Staniów was unlucky enough to be headed into the net by one of the opponents, sealing Wisła's ninth league victory of the season. And it could have been even bigger. Radosław Wójcicki, among others, hit the post in the closing stages.

After 14 rounds, Wisła has 28 points and is at the absolute top of the competition.

"I'm very pleased and I won't deny that I'm pleased with the players' performance. This is especially true given that we're struggling with injuries and can't use many of our players. The players are working hard in training and have performed very well. It's worth noting that many players born in 2007 have joined our squad. This is a very good sign for us," concluded coach Karol Nędza.

This calendar year, Wisła's senior juniors will play three more matches for league points. The first of these will be in Warsaw next week, where Wisła will face MKS Polonia Warszawa (Saturday, October 16, 2:00 PM).
