U-17: a sure win in Dębica
Wisła Kraków U-17 quickly redeemed themselves after their opening loss to Jagiellonia Białystok in the fall round of the Central Junior League. Coach Patryk Jałocha's men comfortably defeated Igloopol Dębica 3-0 away in the second round, with Bruno Skoczek, Filip Michałowski, and Mikołaj Podwysocki all scoring.
After losing 1:3 to Jagiellonia Białystok in the first round of the Central Junior League, the White Star players were counting on opening their points tally in the away match against Igloopol Dębica, which also had to swallow a bitter pill in the form of a 1:3 defeat to Cracovia in the opening match of the league.
Wisła dominated the game from the start, but their efficiency in front of goal faltered in the first half. Two moves were initiated by Tomasz Durlak, and twice, individual moves and shots by Filip Michałowski, narrowly missed the Igloopol goal.
In the second half, the White Star players had their sights set more clearly, resulting in three goals. Bruno Skoczek opened the scoring after a Mateusz Kania cross and some confusion in the Dębica penalty area. Michałowski later made it 2-0, boldly entering the penalty area and finding the back of the net with a shot from about 11 meters.
The first win of the junior team in the league season was sealed by Mikołaj Podwysocki, who took the ball after a corner kick and a clearance by one of the opponents and with a shot near the post forced the opponents' goalkeeper to capitulate for the third time.
"I'm pleased that we controlled the match. We had good possession, but in the first half we lacked a bit of substance in front of goal. After the break, our attacks were bolder, we were able to play a lot of the ball between the lines and created many chances. We imposed a high intensity of play, which allowed us to quickly win the ball back immediately after losing it. The players coming off the bench brought a lot of quality to our game. And with better efficiency, the score could have been much higher. We improved our defensive play compared to the first match," said U-17 coach Patryk Jałocha.
This coming Saturday, the juniors will face another league clash. Wisła will continue their series of away matches, this time facing Cracovia away in a prestigious clash. The first whistle at the Cracovia Training Center in Rączna will sound at 1:00 PM.
