U-10: Successful performance in Banská Bystrica
Last weekend, two groups of young Wisła Academy players traveled to Banská Bystrica, where they had the opportunity to compete against teams such as Slovan Bratislava and Marek Hamsik's academy in the "Bystrica Summer Youth Cup 2024." The Wisła Academy players ultimately finished third.
Both teams (red and blue) played five matches in Group A, and the following day, six matches each in the final round. Despite the short time spent training together, the team managed to secure a podium finish. Coaches Łukasz Małkowski and Konrad Czajkowski traveled to Slovakia with the young Krakow players.
"The team performed very well, considering we've only been working together for three weeks. We managed to develop excellent standards, especially mentally. Despite the difficult conditions, the boys didn't give up; they were full of passion and commitment. They fought for every ball, every inch of the pitch, which resulted in a third-place finish in the tournament. We overtook teams like Slovan Bratislava, FC Petržalka, and MŠK Žilina, only conceding superiority to Spartak Trnava and ETO Gyor. We managed to highlight the best qualities of each player, adapting our style and system of play to our abilities, thanks to which we were able to compete with any team," said coach Konrad Czajkowski.
During the closing ceremony, young Wisła players had the opportunity to meet and take a souvenir photo with Marek Hamsik, a former Napoli player and participant of the 2010 World Cup and the 2016 and 2021 European Championships.
During the tournament, the boys also had the opportunity to meet former Wisła Kraków player Marek Penksa.
