U-17: a confident victory at the end of preparations
Coach Patryk Jałocha's players defeated the Polish National Team USA 4-1. This was their final test before Friday's opening of the Central Junior League.
The match was played in a 3-30 format. Wisła started confidently from the start, attacking high up the pitch. In the 12th minute, Milan Olej opened the scoring with a free kick. The White Star midfielder fired just wide of the post, leaving the visiting goalkeeper no chance.
Six minutes later, Jakub Czubernat extended Wisła's lead. Wisła had the game under control, as Oleja scored again, again from a free kick. Late in the second quarter, their opponents took the lead, creating several dangerous chances.
However, both the White Star goalkeeper and defenders made impressive saves. The increased activity in front of Wisła's goal ultimately resulted in a goal for the visitors. After a cross from the right flank and a miscommunication within the White Star defense, the opposing striker found the ball and slotted it into the net.
Shortly afterward, one of the players on trial determined the outcome of the match. Wisła's strong performance is encouraging. They will begin their league campaign on Friday, facing local side Jagiellonia in Białystok at 12:00 PM.
