U-19: Defeat against Silesia
On Saturday evening, the Wisła Kraków U-19 team played a home match in Myślenice against their peers from Śląsk Wrocław. Although the hosts put up a strong fight, it was the visitors from Lower Silesia who ultimately emerged victorious, defeating Wisła 1-0.
The first half of the match was dominated by Śląsk. The visitors took control of the game from the first whistle, and Wisła struggled to create clear-cut offensive opportunities. Despite Śląsk's dominance, the hosts also had their moments – Dusik pulled off a brilliant move, striking the Śląsk goalpost, while moments later Wójcicki had a chance to open the scoring, but his shot from several yards out went wide.
After the break, Wisła's players hoped to improve their play, but Śląsk continued to dominate the pitch. In the 48th minute, Dusik again caused confusion in the opponents' penalty area, firing a shot that flew over the crossbar. The following minutes proved inconclusive, but in the 50th minute, Śląsk again unleashed a dangerous shot that hit the Wisła goalkeeper. The hosts tried to respond, and in the 52nd minute, Alex Bugaj fired a powerful shot, but the Śląsk goalkeeper was alert and saved it. With each passing minute, Śląsk edged closer to scoring. In the 58th minute, Wisła's opponents again caused confusion in the penalty area, but their shot went wide. Finally, in the 59th minute, the visitors launched a decisive attack. After a quick counterattack, the ball found a Śląsk player, who fired from a tight angle. The ball slid across Wisła's goal area, bypassing defenders and the goalkeeper, and into the net. The visitors took a 1-0 lead, and Wisła faced the difficult task of overturning the deficit. Wisła attempted to equalize, but subsequent attacks were unsuccessful. In the 71st minute, Woyna-Orlewicz had a chance to surprise the Śląsk goalkeeper, but his shot flew wide. Two minutes later, Molenda, after a mix-up in the penalty area, took a shot, but it was blocked by the defenders. The hosts persisted, and in the 79th minute, Wójcicki tried his hand. His shot found the visiting goalkeeper. Wisła remained vigilant until the final minutes. In the 88th minute, Wójcicki again came close to equalizing when he shot at the near post, but the ball missed the target by centimeters. Despite several dangerous attempts, the score remained unchanged.
