U-15: Back to the Winning Path
Wisła Kraków U-15s have broken through. The White Star secured three points in the 13th round of the Central Junior League, defeating Akademia Piłkarskie Perełki Puławy 2-1. Goals from Władysław Kowalski and Bartłomiej Firszt secured the victory for Wisła Kraków.
After derby defeats against Garbarnia Kraków (2:4) and Cracovia (0:1), coach Dawid Ślusarczyk's players wanted to get back on the winning track in the clash with the lower-ranked team of the Football Perełki Puławy Academy.
Wisła more than fulfilled their task, although the victory didn't come easily. The White Star took the lead in the 12th minute when Władysław Kowalski scored after a solo effort and a low shot. However, in the 25th minute, the Puławy team responded effectively when Piotr Nowacki had to retrieve the ball from the net after a brilliant shot from outside the penalty area by one of their opponents.
Before halftime, however, the White Star managed to strike a second blow. In the 33rd minute, Bartłomiej Firszt found the back of the net, converting a through ball from Michał Sobociński-Prokop. As it turned out, it was the winning goal.
"It was a difficult match for us, even though we knew what we had to prepare for. I'm pleased that we were able to control the game from start to finish and deny our opponent their greatest strengths. The second half was more difficult for us physically, as we were often in a low defense and were launching counterattacks. But that's also part of the nature of football. I'm also pleased that more and more players born in 2011 are joining our team. We have our last league match of the year against BKS Biłgoraj ahead of us, and we want to prepare for it as best as we can," concluded U-15 coach Dawid Ślusarczyk.
After 13 league matches, Wisła has 19 points (five wins, four draws and four defeats) and is in eighth place.
The U-15s' fall season concludes with one more match for league points. On Saturday, Wisła will host BKS Biłgoraj at the AWF stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
