U-19: Victory against Legia

Coach Karol Nędza's side faced table-toppers Legia Warsaw on Saturday morning in the 10th round of the Central Junior League. The Kraków team rose to the occasion and displayed excellent form, defeating the Warsaw side 3-2. Szymon Kawała, Maciej Jania, and Dawid Gap scored for the Reymont team.

The White Star players entered the match eager to redeem themselves after last week's heavy defeat to Śląsk Wrocław. This time, the young Wisła players faced a formidable challenge: Legia Warszawa, currently in first place in the U-19 Central Junior League. However, the hosts started the match in the best possible fashion, quickly taking control and creating chances in front of the visitors' goal. Their opponents, in turn, were forced to resist the pressure exerted by the home side, which caused them considerable difficulty as they consistently asserted themselves, creating threats in the penalty area. The Kraków team's form shone in the 10th minute, when they once again launched a strong team effort, leading Szymon Kawała to find the back of the net.

The lead gave Wisła's players a boost, as they increasingly began to cause trouble for Legia Warsaw's defense, and soon after, they showed their precision again, scoring a second goal. In the 19th minute, a free kick from Szymon Kawała was headed in by one of the Legia players. The Warsaw goalkeeper tried to catch the ball, but he lost his grip, and at that moment, Maciej Jania got to the ball and fired it straight into the net.

Around the 30th minute of the match, the visitors began to take the initiative, aiming for a goal through the net, forcing Wiktor Sierda to intervene several times, and in the 38th minute they achieved their goal, making the score 2:1. In the final minutes, Wisła won a few more corners, but ultimately failed to capitalize on their set pieces.

Great disposition of the White Star

After the break, the Kraków team went back to fighting for all three points, and initially, they once again dominated the match. The Warsaw team also continued to push forward, creating several good chances, but Wisła Kraków remained the dominant side and found the Legia goal more often. The hosts created a golden opportunity to extend their lead right after the start of the second half when, after a well-organized move, Hugo Woyna-Orlewicz fired a shot on target, and Tomasz Dusik attempted to finish, but the opposing goalkeeper was on guard and, with a quick reaction, saved the Warsaw team from another loss.

The remainder of the match saw plenty of opportunities, with Maksym Tsymbaliuk, Hugo Woyna-Orlewicz, Tomasz Dusik, and Wiktor Benedyktowicz all attempting to capitalize, but to no avail. In the 80th minute, Wisła attacked, and after a pass from Adam Pieniądz, the ball finally reached Dawid Gap, who raced towards the penalty area and slotted the ball into the net with a powerful shot. The final period belonged to the opposition, who capitalized on a moment of inattention from the home side, making it 3-2.
