U-19: winning streak interrupted
On Saturday morning in Myślenice, Wisła Kraków's senior juniors hosted Stal Rzeszów in the sixth round of the Central Junior League. The match was played in very difficult weather conditions, with heavy rain and a heavily waterlogged pitch. The Stal Rzeszów players thrived in such conditions, defeating coach Karol Nędza's side 1-0.
From the outset, the White Star players were the better side. The hosts dominated, with play mostly taking place in the visitors' half, but the finishing touches were still lacking. As the game progressed, the visitors tried to fight back, creating chances primarily from set pieces and counterattacks.
In the 29th minute, Stal took the lead after a move down the left wing. The score remained unchanged for the remainder of the first half.
The second half began with two chances for both sides. First, Wisła goalkeeper Jakub Kowalski made a brilliant save, and moments later, the White Star player's shot was blocked by a tangle of legs.
Wisła's overwhelming advantage
The Krakow team played boldly and created further scoring opportunities, but their effectiveness continued to suffer. In the 77th minute, Dawid Gap received a second yellow card, and consequently a red card. Despite playing with a small number, coach Karol Nędza's side refused to give up and consistently fought to improve their result until the end. Unfortunately, they were unable to break down their opponents' defensive block, and their winning streak was thus ended.

"We're not happy with the result. I think we were the dominant team, even in the part when we played with ten men. We made a mistake that cost us a goal, and later in the match we weren't effective enough to make up for it. We now have a week to work and train hard to improve the things that didn't work out in this match. In previous rounds, we scored a lot of goals, but today, despite creating many chances, we didn't manage to do so," concluded coach Karol Nędza.
Wisła remains with 12 points in the league table. In the seventh round of matches, Wisła's senior juniors face Escola Varsovia on the road. The match is scheduled for Saturday, September 21st, at 2:30 PM.
