U-19: Wisła's ambitious game, but Lech's victory
Coach Patryk Jałocha's players traveled to Poznań to face local side Lech Poznań in the 23rd round of the U-19 Central Junior League. After a fiercely contested match, the Kraków team returned home without a point, losing 3-2. Michał Chramiec and Radosław Wójcicki scored the goals for the Reymont team.
The match started very promisingly for the Kraków team. Wisła imposed high pressure in the first quarter of an hour, forcing the hosts into errors and creating clear-cut scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, they lacked effectiveness, and it was Lech who managed to get on the scoresheet first, when in the 20th minute, one of their players found the back of the net guarded by Michał Szynkiewicz. The conceded goal somewhat demoralized the Kraków team, who struggled to regain control of the match in the following minutes. Lech dominated possession, but this didn't translate into clear-cut chances. Just when it seemed the first half would end with the hosts leading, the hosts doubled their lead in the 40th minute after a well-executed set piece.
Wisła's good performance, Lech's victory
After the break, Wisła emerged a changed man and set out determined to close the gap. In the 60th minute, the pressure on Lech's goalkeeper paid off – Hugo Woyna-Orlewicz intercepted the ball and confidently scored a goal, giving Wisła hope of turning the game around. In the following minutes, Wisła came close to scoring. First, a powerful shot bounced off the crossbar, and then, a shot from 16 meters into a nearly empty net sailed over the bar. The Kraków team didn't slow down, maintaining possession for long periods, trying to create offensive opportunities, and looked like a team that could still equalize.
Unfortunately, in the 76th minute, another set piece brought the home side their third goal. After the first clearance, the ball found its way back into the penalty area, making the score 3-1. Wisła held firm until the final whistle, allowing them to find the back of the net for the second time. In the 89th minute, they showcased their attacking prowess. Kacper Świętochowski received a pass, found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, and at a crucial moment, he passed the ball to Radosław Wójcicki, who slotted the ball into an empty net, making the score 3-2.
