U-17: Defeat against Polonia
In the final match of the 2024/25 Central Junior League U-17 season, Wisła Kraków faced Polonia Warszawa away. Despite ambitious efforts and a fight to the finish, the Kraków team was forced to concede superiority, losing 5-0. The White Star players ultimately finished 9th in the competition standings.
The match didn't go according to plan for coach Krystian Żakowicz's side from the outset, with the hosts taking the lead in the fifth minute thanks to a well-organized move and a precise shot from Mackiewicz. Although Wisła attempted to organize their play, calm their nerves, and seek attacking opportunities, Polonia's advantage was clear. The players from the capital set a furious pace and effectively exploited every inaccuracy in the visiting side's ranks.
Domination of rivals
The second half brought even more chaos and further blows. The second goal arrived in the 49th minute, and despite Wisła's attempts to regain their momentum, they were unable to find any rhythm or contain the onrushing hosts. Further goals from Kapusta (61'), Jakubowski (69'), and Wierniuk (71') sealed the outcome and underscored the team's strong form.
This result certainly does not fully reflect the effort Wisła's players put into this match, and the defeat to Polonia leaves a lot to be desired. The team from Kraków finishes the competition in 9th place in the table, while the hosts are the leaders and will face the winner of Group II, Raków Częstochowa, in the final of the CLJ U-17 competition.
