U-17: Share of points with Escola
Coach Krystian Żakowicz's players hosted Escola Varsovia in the 23rd round of the U-17 Central Junior League. Despite a difficult start, the Kraków team managed to turn the tables and earn a 2-2 draw, thanks to late goals from Michał Chramiec and Jakub Czubernat.
The match started unluckily for the home team. In the opening minutes, Escola surprised Wisła with a quick attack that culminated in a shot on target, giving the Warsaw team the lead. The home team felt surprised, and the excitement surrounding the goal briefly held them in check. As time passed, however, the home team began to regain control of the game, although they were unable to convert their advantage into concrete chances for long minutes. Alan Bąk had two chances to equalize, but neither resulted in a goal. Escola, on the other hand, despite dominating possession for several stretches, also failed to create many opportunities to extend their lead.
A great finish and a draw
In the second half, Wisła began to press even harder, trying to close the gap. After an initial offensive, it was their opponents who once again showed better reflexes and regained the lead. It seemed the visitors would take control of the match, but the White Star team refused to give up. Towards the end of the match, increasingly dangerous attacks began to emerge. Michał Chramiec almost scored after a long pass behind the defense, and moments later, Jakub Czubernat had a chance to equalize. Just before the end of regulation time, after a pressing attack, Wisła finally managed to score a goal. After an error by their opponents, Michał Chramiec found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper and scored, reducing the deficit. Just moments later, after a cross into the penalty area and some confusion, Jakub Czubernat found the right spot and scored, giving the team a well-deserved draw.
"The start of the match was very difficult for us. We conceded a goal right at the start, which is always a tough experience, especially playing at home. For a moment, emotions got the better of us, but we tried to control the situation and get back into the game. In the first half, we started to regain control, although we lacked the finishing touches in key moments. After the break, we conceded a second goal, which put us in a bit of a slump, but the team showed character. We didn't give up, kept our nerves in check, and that allowed us to turn the game around. I'm glad the team fought until the end and deservedly won this point," said coach Krystian Żakowicz.
