Coach Albert Rudé leaves Wisła Kraków
Spanish coach Albert Rudé will no longer be managing Wisła Kraków. The club and the coach have decided to end the project.
Albert Rudé took over as White Star's coach at the end of 2023. Under his leadership, the team played 18 matches in the spring season. In the Polish Cup final, Wisła Kraków defeated Pogoń Szczecin, winning the competition's trophy after 21 years.
"Albert and I have decided that our collaboration has come to an end. As a club, we really wanted to extend the contract with the coach and continue our collaboration as part of a long-term project. He is a wonderful man, an outstanding specialist, and I deeply believe that in the future he will coach in one of the five most important leagues in the world. In the short time we have been together for 21 years, we have managed to win the Polish Cup, guarantee the club participation in the European qualifying rounds, and thus receive a substantial financial boost. After many hours of meetings, the coach, analyzing the previous season, has decided that his role at Wisła Kraków has come to an end at this stage," said Jarosław Królewski, President of Wisła Kraków.
"Wisła Kraków will always remain in my heart as a great club. When I came here, I had specific goals. I achieved some of them, but not the most important one – promotion to the Ekstraklasa. Winning the Polish Cup was a very important event for me, one I'm very proud of and one I will never forget. I have enormous respect for the fans and the Wisła Kraków community – it's a unique club, with unique people and a unique place. I feel grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of it. However, I am a very practical coach; for me, the club is always more important than any individual. I have conducted a thorough analysis of my time here and I believe that my work will certainly bring benefits in the medium and long term, but the club currently has other needs. I thank the president, the staff, the players, and the fans. Only Wisła!" added coach Albert Rudé.
Along with Albert Rudé, his assistant, Eric Lira Fernandez, is leaving the club.
Thank you and we wish you good luck in your next coaching challenges!
