Coaching duet #WPŁWIS
On Saturday, the match in Płock ended in a draw that neither team was happy with. Coaches Albert Rudé and Dariusz Żuraw will share their opinions after the #WPŁWIS match.
Albert Rudé – Wisla Kraków
"From my perspective, it was a very even match. Very, very even. We competed fantastically from the first to the last minute. Our opponent only had one shot on goal. One. It ended in a goal, which is why we lost. Despite being in a very difficult situation, our team continued to play. They kept believing, created chances, and in the end, we scored a goal that we truly deserved. I'm aware that we needed the three points, but the most important thing was to compete and return to Krakow with at least a point, because what you have to do after two defeats in a row is not lose again, and we achieved that," he began.
Angel Rodado played the entire match, whose hard work and determination meant he quickly returned to the pitch after his injury. "As I said, Rodado's situation was assessed on an ongoing basis, day by day, training by training. On the last day before the match, he looked very good and felt good, so we decided to start this important player," he explained.
One journalist disagreed with Coach Rude's opinion. The coach replied: "First and foremost, we need to understand that opinions are opinions. You have your opinion, I have my vision, and like every fan here, we have to respect that. I want to make it clear that I'm obviously not happy with this point. We needed three points to get back into the play-off zone. However, we were in a very delicate situation after two straight defeats and didn't play with our full squad. I'm proud that my players said to themselves during the week: we will fight, we will compete, and they did! In my opinion, it would have been very cruel if we had lost this match, because based on our performance on the pitch, we should have at least drawn. However, we need to continue to improve our game, but we need to constantly improve because the top two positions are slipping away from us, and we're not currently in the play-off zone. We now have two more away games, and we need to show the same competitive spirit to get the three points."
Dariusz Żuraw – Wisła Płock
"Whenever you concede a goal in the final moments, it definitely hurts. However, it has to be said that we played against a really good team. We had our good moments, we had our bad moments. We also tend to back down too much in front of our own goal. Unfortunately, once again, one opponent in a row is taking advantage. I think the final result is fair, even though we were leading 1-0 for a long time. We couldn't hold on, which we certainly regret, but we'll take this point and prepare for the next match," he concluded.
What caused the Oilers' deep retreat towards the end of the match? "It's also worth noting that Wisła has really good players and moved the ball well. It was difficult for us to get out and win it back. However, I think we gave the ball away too quickly throughout the match. We couldn't keep it, and I think that was the key to the fact that before we could get out, it was already coming back. This is also something we definitely need to work on – keeping the ball up front so we don't lose possession too easily," he explained.
